I thought it would be kinda cool to hear about y'all's pets! Tony ( the hubs) and I have a sweet girl that stole our hearts 5 years ago.
We had just moved into our new place and a week after, Tony was out in the small area that has a privacy fence around it. He turned around and there was this little puppy coming out from under the porch barking at him as if he had invaded her territory. He called me out there to check it out. She was this cute little fluffy tan puppy with a purple tongue. She ran back under the porch and the only way to get her to come back out was a piece of chicken I had in the fridge. We had talked about getting a dog, but not a week after we moved in! LOL. She came out from under that porch covered in dirt, so we named her Dusty.
We think she is Chow mixed with Golden Retriever. She is still with us and we wouldn't take anything for her. We kept her in that fenced area since the entire yard is not fenced in.
The first week I would go out to check on her and feed her and she would be gone. I would go back into the house, and she would be sitting out on the front porch at the door, lol. Tony had to put some wire around the base of the privacy fence until she was too big to crawl under it.
Then we started letting her inside, caught her only ONE time about to pee on the floor, Tony took her outside, said No, and she got it!! She never did it again, and no he didn't yell or raise his voice at her. She will fight tooth and nail now to get outside and do her business. At night, she will scape her paw on the bed to wake one of us, if he doesn't wake up, she goes to my side of the bed, lol.
Tony has taught her to "talk" , and it's truly funny. Those two are best buds. She is always in the garden with us, and in the summer will find the shadiest place she can to watch everything going on. Does she sound a lil bit spoiled?? Nahhhhh. She seems to really understand what we say to her, she's extremely smart. I'm not biased one bit either. I could go on forever with stories about this dog, but I won't.
