Ten Celebrities Who Served In The Military

I certainly remember when Elvis Presley was drafted into the army but did not know
of the rest. Imagine Hugh Hefner being in the military even as an infantry clerk.
Interesting reading SeaBreeze, thanks for the post.

I seriously can't believe that someone made that list and left off Audie Murphy ! !
He was not only one of the top movie stars of his day ( and the one I loved the very best), but Audie Murphy was also the most decorated soldier of WW2.
No list should ever leave out this decorated and courageous hero ! Coming from a childhood of extreme poverty in Texas, he learned to shoot as a child, and often brought home rabbits and other game for his family to have meat for dinner. By the time he entered the military, he was a sharpshooter with his weapon.
His courage and bravery while in the military are legendary. While so many other celebrities served in the military, they were usually put in easier duty, and not out in the front lines like Audie Murphy was.

True. His life story is amazing.

Audie Murphy was also a war hero:)

oh whoops, someone beat me too Audie;) Yeah, he was a cool guy for sure, one of my faves:)

Elvis was used by the American Government as a recruiter.
At the time of the Vietnam war it was hard to get recruit's.After the publicity of his call up the recruiting stations reported above average requests to join up.
He was stationed in Germany and was a Chauffeur to the top brass. Originally he was supposed to drive amoured veicles. It was decided that driving armored vehicles was ruining his kidney's.
I was stationed at a English Army Barracks he used to take top brass to.
Has we used to say he was the only private ever allowed to dine with the officers.
