Text reading software

Can anyone recommend a good text reading software that follows the cursor or a finger on my touch screens?

Most of the ones I've seen tend to read the whole screen and read too quickly, and if you pause them they go back to the beginning again.

Most of anything available in the US will have a European version that I can get hold of,

If your using Windows 7, right click on far left "Windows" icon. Type in "text reader". Choose "Hear text read aloud with Narrator" It will help you set up the way you want it to work. I think it would be the same if you are using later versions of Windows also.
 

I'm a sloppy typist, and misuse my mouse, so all kinds of stuff pops up that i have absolutely no idea how I did it. I keep getting a woman/man who reads the threads. It scares the hell out of me, when your computer starts talking. You may already have this program? I never installed anything like it.
Maybe somebody knows how to activate it.
 
Hi Laurie,

In the Windows version Laurie, if you can highlight the text that
you want it to read, that is all that it reads.

I know that, this is a problem for you, but if you can get a mouse
to work with your tablet, that would help.

Lots of stuff available online of course, but I can't seem to find anything that I exactly want and I was looking for a personal recommendation from somebody with the same problem who's tried it.

Narrator is no good because it reads the whole page including headers and footers UN start again if you pause it to try and digest stuff slowly.

Can't right click on any windows icons or user a mouse I have a touch screen and an onscreen keyboard which doesn't have windows keys

it is called Balabolka, it is free, but it is the only one that
I can find with a bookmark, or bookmarks, it is aimed at
education, so it should be a fairly good programme.

The website also says that you can have a "Portable" version
that you load into a USB drive to carry around with you, for
what reason I am not sure.

Balabolka supports text file formats: AZW, AZW3, CHM,
DjVu, DOC, DOCX, EML, EPUB, FB2, FB3, HTML, LIT, MD,
MOBI, ODP, ODS, ODT, PDB, PRC, PDF, PPT, PPTX, RTF,
TCR, WPD, XLS, XLSX.

I think that according to the above list, it will cover all
types of file that you want to read.

If you get stuck let me know Laurie and I will put it into
my machine and play with it to get the basics.

Thanks Mike.

Tech Radar is one of my go to sites but I never thought of it for this.

I'll have a look at that one when I've collected myself a bit bit fraught at the moment I!

I note there's a portable version which is always a handy thing.

I'll let you know, and anyone else is interested, how I get on.
