That Metric System

Never liked it back then when the U.S. government tried to force it down our throats,still don't care for it today.
Ill stick with Lbs,inches and miles rather then kilometers. Did ya know a kilo in todays version is 2.2 lbs of cocain .

However, American consumers generally rejected the use of metric units for highway distances, weather reports, and other common measurements, so little was accomplished except for the encouragement of faster metric conversion in various scientific and technical fields.

The metric system is very much simpler than the English system. People are too resistant to change. If we had adopted it back in the 70s everyone would be used to it now. I was all for the change back then and still am.

We use it here in the UK. There was a big kicjk back against it when it was first introduced and we still don't use it on our roads...but everything else is metric....but I still think in inches and not centimetres, and pounds not Kilos, but we got used to it very quickly and it's definitely easier.

In America you use the metric system everyday when you reach into your purse or wallet.
100cents = 1 dollar
50 cents = half of a dollar. your notes are the same as Australias!
In Australia we have a 5-10-20-50 cent coin, A $1 - $5 -$10 - $20 - $50 - $100 notes
Your money is similar to ours to use, you have a 25cent & a dollar coin & a $2 coin which is rarely used,

I'd rather not have it, had enough trouble when visiting Canada with the metric system....but, I'd learn it and get used to it if I had to.

I heard/read somewhere a long time ago that the
only Americans who know and work in metric weights
are drug dealers, they buy in kilos.

We have had metric in Canada since the seventies. It was not popular and to this day many people
refuse to think in metric. I resisted for quite awhile but finally decided to get used to it because it's used
here for everything.
I still miss the Imperial system but nothing stays the same so I go with metric and it's easier now that I'm used to it.

I agree! Counting in 10s is so much simpler. I think math grades would improve
