The Best Thing To Happen To Me Today...

I went to the cardiologist today and had my stress test. Zero change from last year, so I got signed off on the last item on my checklist.

EKG, CT scan, full physical, blood work, swab, physical therapy, etc. It's been a full month of jumping through hoops, and I'm finally all set.

All that's left now is the knee replacement.

Went to the store at about 6 am, took about an hour an a half to shop and run everything through the hated self-check, then got to my car to do the big transfer of $189 of groceries from the cart to the trunk. By then all my chemical energy from coffee and prednisone was gone, I had to use my left arm because my right one has a rotator cuff injury and my bad left leg was done and angry at me.

Suddenly a little woman with peach colored hair was beside me asking if I needed help and by the time I got done saying I was okay, just kind of slow (and of course all about the rotator cuff,) she had loaded me.

I told her she was like an angel who had fallen out of the sky and when my donuts showed up I asked her not to tell Jesus when she got back because I had given up sweets for Lent.

She seemed so happy when we parted that I felt like I had done my good deed for the day by letting her help me. Old age has it's perks.

My daughter rang this morning..it's always a good day when she rings..

It ight not sound especially great ..unless you know she has no mobile signal from her house.. at all.. and she literally has to go out for a walk.. or be driving before she can call me...

During the week she calls from her work during her lunch hour. but from home she can't call.. and today she went out in the pouring rain just so she could call

Yes. He works at our local co-op, an organic grocery and sundries store. :)
the co-op here I understand to be a different thing from the co-op in the US..I could be wrong tho'.. here the co-op is a major but small supermarket chain which has been going for many years.. before I was born certainly.. and they are also known for their Funeral services.. and banking

When I was a child to shop in the co-op you had to be a member and have a dividend number, and I still remember my mothers' because I was the one who was sent to do the shopping the most...

Nowadays there's no need for dividend numbers or membership.

Our co-op is also part of a chain and there is a sister store across town. They sell pretty much what regular grocery stores sell only mostly organic, local, farm raised, etc.

They do have memberships and I believe members get a discount, but it is not required in order to shop there. They call it being an "owner."

We have yet another organic market here that is part of a different chain and a Whole Foods is about to go in a few miles from us.

When I shop at the co-op (which is rare because my husband is there four days a week), my husband comes with so we can use his employee discount, which is helpful because the co-op is expensive. Better quality, but expensive.

The best thing that happened to me today was finding out that my brother’s promise to split the inheritance with me was true. He’s the executor of the will and called me letting me know that my parents did disinherit me but he made up for it by splitting the inheritance. He didn’t have to but did. What a fabulous brother I have. He’s the best. This fall we are renting a motor home and going to see my brother and his wife and my husband’s sister and dad ( father in law). We are going to take our time and have fun. We also invited them to come visit us. My husband’s sister usually comes every year and we have lots of fun.
