The Best Thing To Happen To Me Today...

I went in to the Little Rock Air Force Base veterinary clinic today to pick up a couple of prescriptions for my dog, and I was greeted by a cat that could not have been more affectionate.

I haven't been around a cat since I was a kid, but this particular cat (clearly a pet of one of the staff) definitely thought I was his/her meow.

The cat got plenty of cheek/neck rubs and the entire experience left me with a smile on my face. Of course, I had to pony up $64 for the prescriptions, but it didn't sting as much.

Maybe that's the cat's job. Waylay the customer.

Nice cat. The job of the 'clinic cat' is to provide emotional support for staff and others when there is a tragedy. Also the cat is a blood donor in case needed during surgery.

2 things... Costco was almost empty..I;ve never seen the car park or the store, or even the petrol station as empty since it first opened....

..2nd... my neighbour cooked and brought me dinner tonight, BBQ..chicken drumsticks, 2 Bacon chops, and a red pepper & tomato salad . so I didn't have to cook for myself tonight

My Honorary Son #3 (HS#3) was a guest on a fellow actor's podcast, did a great interview during which he mentioned me. Turns out the host's favorite of HS#3's broadcasts was the one on UFOs. That's the one I suggested, collaborated and made my first guest appearance on. So that made me feel good. I also love that the host talked with him about his many talents besides being in the clinical psychology field and studying for his doctorate.

HS#3 is an actor, composer, playwright, poet, broadcaster and content producer. The host also praised the variety and quality of HS#3's weekly topics and encouraged him to get his podcast up and running which will be for an hour instead of a half hour. HS#3 makes me so proud and it literally did my heart good to see him being acknowledged that way (I felt better after the podcast, after having an afternoon A-fib episode).

My squirrel friend doesn't mind that I am sitting close to her while she eats or just looks around. She stands up with her paws folded over her chest and stares at me for longer times each day. Mostly, I sit outside reading my Kindle, and I don't do anything that will scare her. She has become quite bold. Today she climbed a ladder just for fun, spent a lot of time chasing a smaller squirrel away (after grunting at it for awhile - which must mean go away). And after six tries, she figured out how to eat from the bird feeder while upside down. She is quite an acrobat!

Since July 4 fireworks (extremely loud, often sounding like gunshots, and lasted for 4+ hours), all the birds and squirrels have gone. So far 2 wren-like birds have returned, a few few cardinals, and maybe 3 squirrels. Before that the birds and squirrels were very active and loud, especially in the mornings. I go outside at 6 a.m. daily to watch them.

The best thing today was when I ran up the stairs to say good morning to my son.

I ran up the stairs. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I didn't even think about it. I heard my son in the kitchen with my husband and I wanted to make him laugh with my silly fan girl behavior (I really just love him so much). So I ran up the stairs to say good morning to him.

It didn't even occur to me until we were in conversation a few minutes later. That I'd run up the stairs, I mean really charged up them, and was not bothered by it at all.

This is huge for me because in the last few years I've been having increasing trouble with my hips and back such that it would be usual for me to ease my way up the stairs, holding onto the rail. This used to happen, every single time I'd get up from a sitting position. Just so stiff and painful.

This morning, I hopped out of my chair and ran up the stairs to see my son. :)

I've been doing toning workouts followed by yoga/stretch for, eh, about seven weeks now and I've seen my body changing, but today was my first experience with how my exercise is not just building muscle, but helping with my joints. Freaking yay! πŸ’ƒπŸ₯³πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Sorry for long post. :)

No reason to be sorry. So happy about your hip/back improvement! Good work! 🌹

The best thing that happened to me today was enjoying a picnic dinner at an outdoor evening concert in the park. The weather was beautiful, the music was great, and there wasn't a bug in sight! 😊

After a nice customer paid for my petrol a couple of weeks back, I had two phone calls from Red Kite, a charity for kids with cancer and the other one from The Shepherd Centre, children with deafness. I've decided to pay it forward, and the money someone paid for my petrol, I will forward the same to these charities. It made me feel so good sharing my good fortune.
