The big bad bear making a move into Syria!

It seems that Russia is preparing an airport to support Assad and insure his staying in power. The ME is about to get messier and there is nothing we can do about it. The good news is that the Aussies have stepped up their air strikes against ISIS in Syria...

Apparently the Russians didn't learn their lesson either.

Keeping in mind that Russia has already dealt with their own version of ISIS (Chechnya terrorists who've since settled down to a degree since), and considering that America is backing the bombing of thousands of Yemeni civilians by the Saudi's, I'd say that generally speaking, no one has any right to be judgemental of Russian involvement in Syria. http://mondoweiss.net/2015/08/killed-saudi-bombing

Given too, that in 1991 the Pentagon decided to destabilize Syria plus five or six other ME countries and that the Pentagon was fully aware that ISIS was developing but continued their support of terrorists who were attacking the Assad regime, again, I'd have to remind everyone that while you point the accusatory finger at Russia when they finally do become actively involved, there are three pointing back at 'America'.

And while we're thinking of Russia/Syria, let's not forget that Russia stepped in and got Assad to turn over his chemical weapons and according to a recent article, apparently back in 2012, they also offered to begin talks with Assad with a view to getting him to step down and apparently the offer was turned down or ignored by the USA. http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...yrias-assad-step-aside?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

It seems that America has some lessons to learn as well.

Do you seriously think that gets America off the hook for all the trouble your Pentagon has caused over there? Or that they will stop supporting and funding and arming terrorists 'because now it's the Russian's turn'?

You want ISIS taken down? Then tell the Saudi's, Qatar and Kuwait (your best buds in the oil industry) to end funding of those animals and quit helping those groups bomb other countries.

And then there's Turkey:'...On the same day that Turkey announced it would help fight the Islamic State, Turkish forces began an airstrike campaign against one of the very groups that has been crucial to stopping the advance of the Islamic State.Since the July 24 announcement, Turkey has launched several waves of airstrikes against elements of a Kurdish separatist group known as the P.K.K., which is widely listed as a terrorist group. But that group and its allies in Syria, who have been closely working with American forces, are pushing Islamic State militants out of areas they once controlled.

Why isn't the US/NATO using its influence to step in with Turkey and stop the bombing of Kurdish forces that America has been working with? Could it be because the fight against ISIS is a fight that the American public won't b**** about and which will keep the profits rolling in to the military corporations and the career soldiers at the Pentagon who would shrivel up and die if America cut back on it's wars? In that light, does the goal of stopping ISIS actually devolve into a daydream of the worlds civilians but has nothing to do with the reality of the intentions of the West's military factions?

I totally understand that the American public is tired of wars! I get it. But at the very least, it does seem that the continuing hostility that Americans have towards Russia is a great deal of the pot calling the kettle black and particularly as your government doesn't seem as tired of these situations as you folks are.

I dare say that your government is just ecstatic that Russia is finally stepping in and not because it gets them off any hook but because it could finally put Russia in the cross hairs where your government could conceivably legitimize an actual all out attack which is something that I'm guessing they've been praying for nightly.

Just think, bringing Russia back to it's knees would do wonders for setting up NATO bases all over eastern Europe and a conflict on Russia's territory would further the work of societal/economic destruction that the sanctions were supposed to cause.....and it would make the Saudi's soooooo happy. It would further the great cause of turning all of Europe towards the Saudi's for their oil and gas instead of buying from Russia. So while the Saudi's are pumping enough oil to cause harm to American and Canadian oil and gas companies and your government (and mine) says nothing but continues to support the wholesale slaughter of Yemeni civilians by the Saudi's, the next goal may be to ramp up conflict with Russia via Syria.

There are ulterior motives in abundance here not to mention boatloads of hypocrisy at the governmental levels.

Well Russia must certainly think they will get something out of getting involved there.... Let them find out for themselves how fruitless it is..

I believe their involvement aside from Assad and Syria being a traditional ally also has to do with moving oil and gas via pipelines (that need to be built) in the region.

And who knows, if America stopped supporting the Saudi's and that miserable bunch of human rights abusers and quit funding and giving weapons to terrorists in the region and forced the Turks to quit bombing one of the few groups who seems to have any success fighting ISIS, maybe we wouldn't be hearing our stupid politicians warning us that this ISIS battle is likely to take ten years or more. Do those things and you probably wouldn't need to use the word 'fruitless'.

Didn't your Mother Russia get caught up in a long war in Afghanistan long before the US...I believe they fought there from 1979 to 1989.. Brezhnev was in charge... trying to help the ruling regime withstand a coup.. Seems they created quite a bit of turmoil, unrest and a vast number of refugees themselves.... Have they forgotten? Have YOU forgotten? Or is it selective memory... much preferring to point fingers at the USA... but that's a favorite pass time of yours.

Actually, Debby like most Canadians spends considerable time Pointing fingers at Canada. There are many things to criticise after all. We don't believe healthy criticism of any country, including America is a negative thing, merely an implement of change. It certainly is not a personal attack. This is debate, sparring among friends, not verbal warfare. Lol.
