First there was the boot for traffic ticket violaters/unpaid tickets now there is 'the barnacle' for parking ticket scofflaws. NYC experimenting with the device.

NYPD rolls out ‘barnacle’ windshield boots to force violators to pay

Uses commercial grade suction cups, weighs 17 pounds and is attaced to the cars windshield. The car owner pays the fines and is given a code to release the device

It attaches by suction cups. 1000 lbs of pressure. When it is turned off it releases the suction pressure. The first one's didn't have a scan code for your phone. ( Another use for new AI tech. Law enforcement. ) You had to wait aprox. and hour before a police officer arrived to remove it.

I lived in NYC. New Yorkers drive around with the boot on, who really thinks they won't drive around with the "barnacle". And in NYC, there is no such thing as "tamper proof".

So, do I understand correctly that anyone getting a ticket, gets a barnacle?

And then if you don't pay it online, right then and there, you can't go anywhere?
