I had not noticed this but I wonder if I haven't put in that update yet since I have automatic turned off and only do them manually and I don't remember to do that until something stops working because I haven't which is fine with me because, again, if it ain't broke, why fix it?This may be the question of the day.
One of the most recent updates from Microsoft changed the way File Explorer sorts folders and files. Previously one could choose from a variety of sorts (alphabetical, by date, by type, Etc.) For reasons unknown MS changed it to sort by day and time and removed the ability to custom sort. At first I thought I had inadvertently changed a setting but after hours of work I finally found that this was an intentional change from MS included in a recent update. It seems as though they decided they know best how we should view our files. It took a while but I finally found a program called "WinSetView" that was able to restore the ability to sort files. I can't think of any plausible reason for changes like this.
I do do periodic protection scans and that is what usually causes me to update. Looked and mine are still alphabetical. When I'm forced to update, due to you have to continually update virus protection to protect against the latest worms, viruses, etc. going around, that will probably get me.
Ugh. I tend to put things I know I'll be using a lot into a new folder but that means that will bury due to date. No more keeping something I want at the top by simply naming it a.
