I’ve been playing different versions of Amazing Grace on my keyboard and now it’s stuck in my head. Guess I better start playing something else. Although it is a beautiful song.
The theme from the Captain Kangaroo show. I didn't really like or watch the show but I thought the music was cheerful and things being cheerful was a fantasy of mine. (My dad and sister were both rageaholics so constant yelling and furniture, etc. being thrown.)
How to pick just one?
My mother had a beautiful singing voice and often sang as she did housework. She had a habit of singing Irish songs, tho she was Hungarian, because my Dad was Irish/Welsh. Probably the one i heard earliest in life was '"Tura lura lura, T'is an Irish Lullaby". She had a Mimic's ear and would sing it in an Irish brogue.
But the one that in many ways defined not only my childhood but my teens was "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
For me, it has to be "Davey Crockett". on TV, the theme song was NOT sung by Fess Parker. It was a group called "Wellingtons".
And the song is a Disney product, so unless you pay all kind of fees you can't use it. Hopefully this link works
Elvis singing "You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog"...
My teenage sister played this 45 rpm over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, Until I about died! Accordingly, I never liked Elvis!
Rock Round The Clock...tonight.
I remember my older aunt playing this somewhere. Must have been on the radio, I don't think she had a record player. Late 50s early 60s
