So this is an example of that old cliche that if you have to explain the joke then it can't be all that funny. It is obviously a dog, not a rabbit or a fish. The humor is supposed to be along the lines of "oh, I must not be either left brained or right brained, ha ha"

That episode seemed to have a life of it's own, without the rest of the series. I watched Twilight Zone, from the very first episode, Where Is Everybody? This episode got more famous as the years went by.
