The "good old" days?

Public schools for me throughout, but do you think I can remember when the lord's prayer stopped? Not a chance.

I seem to remember by junior-high it was no longer, but boy, do the years ever catch up with ones memory. :)
You are right....The lord's prayer never stops....I should try harder these days....Especially I'm old....

I think they stopped using prayer sometime in the 60's, at least in NJ. It probably varied state by state.

The Pledge of Allegiance probably lasted somewhat longer.

I started Kindergarten in 1962, and the 'grace' before lunch ended during my Kindergarten year. Never said Lord's Prayer, never read Bible verses.
The only references to God/religion/etc. were Christmas parties and Christmas carols.

We did the Pledge each morning throughout elementary school, but it kinda faded out afterward because kids all had different homeroom teachers.

I agree it was probably all a state by state thing.
I went to school in NY.
