It's getting there!
I'm sure you'll make it beautiful.
I'm sure you'll make it beautiful.
I wanted to! But marriage is all about compromise right?I like the idea of the brick painted white.
Not the look you're going for this time?
I agree with you! But as I commented to our @dobielvr when she said something similar, compromise is what helps keep a marriage healthy, and so I was the one who compromised this time!I'm joining the conversation late, but the porch is looking fab! The only comment I have is about the brick inside the porch area. Rather than cover it up, I'd leave it for a textural element. Maybe paint it or white wash it to keep the area bright. I'm probably too late in my suggestion...I imagine you're already done with whatever you decided! Great job on this project!
Love those tins too!Beautiful project. I know it's a compromise, but I agree with @caroln about painting the wall. It doesn't need to be white, but another color. Not sure if I missed what you decided for the ceiling, but I love the look of tin ceilings. You can either use tin or the ones made of plastic that look pretty good. I've been fooled a couple of times at the stores thinking it was really tin. And they come in so many different designs & colors.
In Florida they have replaced the skylights by solar tubes. They are installed quickly and give a nice natural light. (without leaks!)Looking great? Be sure to allow plenty of run off around any skylights you add. That wasn’t done here and we got a lot of rot where rain would pile up in the flat area uphill from the skylights.
Personally I wanted the painted brick but Ron, like yourself, didn’t care for it. Well, not to split hairs, but i wanted whitewashed brick and that does lend itself to a different look.Personally, I'm not a fan of brick inside a house. I would paint it. But I understand your compromise.![]()
Thanks @MarkD! I’m guessing he’s very aware of this after 40 years in construction but I won’t hesitate to mention this to him, just in case.Looking great. Be sure to allow plenty of run off around any skylights you add. That wasn’t done here and we got a lot of rot where rain would pile up in the flat area uphill from the skylights.
