The half million dollar wedding outfit

That comment is going to get you in trouble Traveler...again. There's no comparison between male and female here. Comparing the way a woman dresses to the way a man dresses is like comparing apples and oranges. It's normal for a female to dress attractively....just not stealing the show at a wedding that's meant for the bride. And not outrageously overspending (threw that in to stay on topic).

Women dressing to be attractive to the opposite sex is part of creation...and procreation.

Yes, indeed. I often get into trouble for telling the simple truth. In a P.C. world, truth is often verboten.
I , however, do thank you for further confirmation re; attention seeking behavior.

"Women dressing to be attractive to the opposite sex is part of creation … and procreation".

Yes, you are absolutely correct. But, I am not complaining about it.

I find nothing at all wrong with it.

I am, in fact quite attracted to women who dress attractively.

I'm merely commenting on it.

Why anyone would think I am putting women down for dressing attractively/sexy, escapes me.

If I was describing the behavior of cats, and I made note that cats spend time "grooming" themselves, no one would think I hate cats.

My only argument is with those who deny that many, many women dress to attract attention.

To this man, and the vast majority of both males AND females, it couldn't be more obvious.

As the French say, "Vive la difference". :)

When I look at that picture and the expression on George Clooney's face I see a well-dressed woman and a man that is letting the world know that he is more than capable of taking care of the woman he loves.
Absolutely! Amal is a world famous international human rights lawyer, I doubt she is insecure about anything.

I hope, Shalimar, you are not equating attention seeking behavior with insecurity. The world is full of people who seek attention but are in no way insecure. I never intended to imply any insecurity when I spoke about Amal Clooney and her $500,000 outfit.

I have no 1st hand knowledge, but I've read that some women will spend $10,000-20,000 on a new dress, and then never wear it again.

I forget the lady's name, but not long ago I read an article criticizing a lady for wearing the a dress at the Oscar's which she had worn previously at the Oscar's 10 years ago. Strange article. Strange thinking.

Hmmm, no stranger than men such as Jay Leno and his collection of expensive cars. Btw, I am equating attention getting behaviour with insecurity. More often than not, it is a prime component. There are other reasons of course, but this is not a psychology forum. Loll.

Once again you miss my meaning. The strange part is that a lady could be criticized for wearing the same dress to the Oscars on two different occasions.

I saw that. I think it was Rita Moreno. She wore it in 1962 when she got an Oscar nomination for West Side Story. She purposefully wore it to the 2018 Oscars for the fun of it, for the sake of memorabilia. I admired how it fit her still.

What I don't get is why some writer would be so cruel to publicly excoriate the lady for wearing the same dress, twice to the Oscars.
Seems cruel just for the sake of cruelty. Poor Rita (my crush, at age 16) Her West Side Story dancing put fire in my teenage dreams for years.
