The idiots you meet on the road, (can't pass a parked vehicle and leave room for oncoming traffic!)

Have you noticed how folks attempting to pass a line of parked traffic seem to wish to take almost all the roadway, so oncoming traffic are unnecessarily inconvenienced, (having to apply brakes suddenly or swerve to avoid them)?

Often, if those drivers would just behave reasonably there would be plenty of room for traffic to pass both ways without difficulty, but that isn't good enough, they have to take all the room available, perhaps fearing someone sitting in a parked car might open their door on them, and scratch their motors(?).

This is just one pet hate, along with those who won't use indicators or flashers on roundabouts, or at other junctions behave in the same fashion, and the list goes on, and I'm guessing this nonsense is getting worse hereabouts!

Stupid drivers have always been a hazard, and will likely continue to be so. Safety on the roads demands that a driver must pay full attention to All the traffic around them, and be prepared to take evasive action at any moment. In recent years, cell phone users have become a major hazard....even surpassing drunks.

Not clear about what specifically you are referring to that would especially depend on number of traffic lanes, urban situation, and where the "parked traffic" was?

In any case I've wondered why web forums on annoying drivers all disappeared a few years after the early Internet rose as though for some kind of legal lawsuit reason as the general public has a long list of annoying things to rant about. Nothing even on some huge automobile forums as though they had been sued.

Well Graham, the answer is obvious. If you folks on the other side of "the pond" would just finally recognize that driving on the right is part of the natural order of things, the entire problem would go away! If I had to drive on the left all the time, I would have problems also!

I must admit there is one section of road near to where I live, that always seems to have a lot of cars parked down one side of the road, and in this case there is only enough room for traffic to move in one direction at a time, (and contrary to the bad behaviour I seem to see or experience when there's room for traffic to pass both ways), and in this case drivers do seem to behave reasonably, and each in turn, after a number of cars have gone through, waits to allow traffic to pass in the other direction!
Not sure who might sue anyone because no names are mentioned obviously, (and I could afterall be making up my comments couldn't I ).

Reminded me of a good one:
A lawyer parks his new BMW & opens the door into traffic when a car comes along, hits the door & rips it off its hinges.
A policeman arrives & finds the lawyer really angry, screaming about the damage to his precious car.
The cop says: "You lawyers are so materialistic, you make me sick. You're so worried about your new car, you didn't even notice that your left arm was torn off."
The lawyer looks down at the bloody stump where his arm was & says: "Oh, my God….where's my Rolex?"

A very good friend of mine, who I used to call "my second mother", had a sign in the back of her small car that read: "Be a dear, please don't drive too close"!

I imagine the sign was as effective as anything else you might try to stop people "tailgating" you, because I find grinding to a complete halt is sometimes not enough to persuade said "idiot", to stop the behaviour and pass you!

So you end up stopping there waiting for them to make their minds up you haven't set a trap for them, or whatever it might be going through their heads!

I heard a similar story that is supposed to have happened in real life, where a guy not only sticks their arm out to try to hail a cab, but their leg as well, and ends up with a broken leg, (hard to believe I know, though those idiot drivers obviously have to leave the confines of their cars sometimes!)!

I have done that, once in central London though only a small truck I admit, (and how I managed to squeeze through some of those gaps between traffic and bollards unscathed I'll never know! ).
