The Inept Bureaucracy

Because my name and S/S # were used fraudulently by some joker trying to obtain $5K tax refund, IRS issued me a PIN # to be tacked onto all correspondence. A letter from them about a month ago, listed the #, but called it out as being for tax year 2014. Yeah, of course I threw the letter away.

Today I got another letter, apologizing twice for their mistake: previous letter should have stated tax year 2015. "Use the PIN # shown in the previous letter".

How could they have made yet another mistake: not showing the PIN # on the correct letter?

When dealing with government agencies, it's helpful to remember one thing....."Those Who Can, DO. Those Who Can't, Work for the Government". Never take anything for granted when dealing with the government.
