The King Proclaimed

The one thing I remember of the accession of the late Queen is the whole school ( I was 14) going to a public place to hear the Proclamation read out after it had been made in London.

Stuck with me much more than the pump and pageantry of the Coronation itself.

18 months later, at the age of 15, I swore an oath of allegiance to her as I joined her Armed Forces

Never met her of course. but I'd have taken the bullet.

Is it true Charles said Meghan wasn't welcome at the Queen's deathbed?
Considering Meghan denounced the Royal Family and would "never go to the UK again," her words, it was appropriate that she stayed away. The Royals would have known how the Queen would have felt about that. I notice Meghan isn't so flamboyant in their company, at this time. God Save the King.
