The Longest You Can Be Without Music

Meh... I like the peace and quiet. The only time I listen to music is when something comes up in YouTube suggestions that I'm interested in, or with Tim Pierce or Rick Beato videos. Although I did just buy a turntable pre-amp so I could listen to my albums again, but I listened to half an album and that's been it. Maybe I'll listen more during the winter.

So I guess I could go for a pretty long time without music. I don't like much of the contemporary stuff out there. Musical virtuosity seems to be a thing of the past regarding rock or pop music. That's what our music had back in the '60s and '70s... virtuosity. Much of it, anyway.

For over 40 years I listened and played music myself and 100's of different groups almost daily. I quit playing a couple years ago, and listen to what is on the SF mainly. I enjoy the different choices and genres. I will remember a song and put it on here. So I am listening about everyday because of you all. :)

Every day for a bit. I always have a song in my head and can change my tunes at will. There is one song that I always play, my go to when I want a peaceful diversion. Pink Floyd "On the Turning Away". The lyrics are great but I can play the whole song, note for note in my head. Soothing and incredibly powerful. Takes me away.

For most of my life I didn't think I liked music at all. The music of my parents and friends, and the music played at work and at the gym, were either aggravating or just meh.

Then 10 years ago I started looking for music I liked, that would be good to exercise to. And I found lots.

But it's for exercise only. I never play music other times. So if I didn't exercise, my answer would be "Forever."

I really never thought about it. I do post music here often but in daily life I only listen to music now when I go for my walks. I used to have music playing in the background all the time when I was younger but now that background noise is replaced by podcasts or random YouTube channels. Since I do try to talk a walk once a day I will say I do like it daily.

Well ya see I got this tune in my head and I can't get rid of it. I'm afraid if it were to stop I would lose my best friend. How long can I go without music? It depends on the tone.

I have 180 CDs and every time I get into the car, I have the oldies playing on my car's stereo. I couldn't live without music. Well that is the types of music that I love. As for country, rap/hip-hop/opera/Latin. I can go a life time without that kind of music. Especially country. I've hated that stuff all of my life.

I went to Lowe's last night and they were playing country music over the PA. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I love the old country music, but contemporary country music... actually, any contemporary music, really gets on my nerves. It just seems like mass produced crap.

I can do without it. I really don't listen to music at home at all. Just in the car. I stream news talk radio. Listening to KGO San Francisco right now.

I'm afraid I can't relate to people who can't function with music. I can go weeks without it. When I do put on something, I sit and actually listen to it, it's not just playing in the background. The world is noisy enough without excess sound.
