The Lord is my Shepherd

Psalm 39:12-13

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.

Sorry you are having health issues, can sympatize, hope you get care you need.

Tho i left organized religions half my life ago, certain prayers have continued to have deep meanings for me. The prayer of St. Francis that begins"...let me be an instrument of thy peace..." And this psalm because of the shift in pronouns between verses 3 & 4. It goes from God being mentioned in 3rd person (He) to second person, (you). Indicating more personal, direct interaction with God.

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
