The Lord is my Shepherd

Psalm 39:12-13

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.

Sorry you are having health issues, can sympatize, hope you get care you need.

Tho i left organized religions half my life ago, certain prayers have continued to have deep meanings for me. The prayer of St. Francis that begins"...let me be an instrument of thy peace..." And this psalm because of the shift in pronouns between verses 3 & 4. It goes from God being mentioned in 3rd person (He) to second person, (you). Indicating more personal, direct interaction with God.

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

My favourite psalm, it is so very comforting.

ā€œDo not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.ā€ John 14:1-4

Ohioboy:
I am sorry that you are ill. You have helped me over the years to understand some parts of the Constitution. Reading it is not always understanding it. You have made it understandable for me. Whatever it is that you are suffering with, I hope that you are able to overcome it. God Bless You.

Right. Well said.

Ohioboy,
You were always there, with an answer to a question from anyone of us.
A respectful answer, that we could all comprehend .

A kind answer. Or, a funny answer.
Or a serious answer. A smart answer. A calm answer.

We're here now. Thinking of you, and caring about you.

Footprints in the Sand

Footprints in the Sand, a beautiful poem!

Footprints-in-the-Sand-Poem.jpg

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

* You are not alone. I always find this poem an inspiration whenever I need the encouragement.
