Why was it locked ? It seemed too me that everyone was behaving.

Well, we can continue to guess why, but it may be the only way to know is to ask the admin, if he chooses to respond. I thought the thread was more religious than political and I found no rules against religion here. Unless I just missed it?

Probably for much the same reason my Gay Pride thread was deleted, which was my choice. People who pop in with nothing concrete to add to the thread but just want to be confrontational and negative.
So only positive comments on a topic are permitted ? Isn't that sort of a one sided discussion ? Taking it to not even a discussion at all.

I didn't realize that had happened, Doug. Probably my fault, I promise to stay out of it if you want to try again.

I missed this Ten Commandments one altogether.

Are we talking about Louisiana, Mo. ?? Great new Mississippi River Bridge a couple of years ago.
Good Gas Metro Mart just over & off the Bridge. Route 79 is a great way to check out Mark Twain's
Landfall.
Course there is Atlas,Il. It's sort of failing lil town now. Main Store now sale. There is also Louisiana, Indiana.

Or is this praising the Parishes in the State of Louisiana. I was scheduled to go to Mardi Gras there
but changed it to a Dude ranch in North Michigan instead. Maybe Mardi Gras is for locals? Ever
heard of Sinko De Mayo. Titanic fame.

Got as close as Mississippi and Alabama. Must be something wrong there. No clue here.
Been to N. Texas too. Dallas and the Toll roads turn me off.

I have often thought of the French and their meaning of the Louisiana purchase? Sure, I live the history of it.
Can I blame the Blues on St. Louis? How about the UFL? Go mighty St. Louis Battlehawks. 7-3 2024, Go Hawks.
Send donations to resurface the Dome field. Useful $$$$$$ have their own reward. & play 18 games next year.

If you choose to believe in yourself thas ok. Freedom of Choice and Speach. Just don't push it too far.
No body cares. You are your own worst enemy. Oh, My what have I done is a good self-help choice.

I spent most of the day unraveling the Wiring inside of 7 - 1/2 Pint jars to have Lightening bugs on the Wifes Planting plots.
6 feet of fine wire, powered by solar batteries in each little jar. Thankfully they are silent no buzzing, nothing but tiny lights in near dark.
Patience Classes, please here! Wonder what they pay the guys who wrap up that wiring into lil loops. Why just not stuff it loosely in.
Sure it wouldn't look precise on delivery. Thas a thought anyway.

There is a method to unwrap that mess. It took the Second Jar!

Seriously? Why don't you post a thread that's near & dear to your heart, maybe someone will stop by and crap all over your thread, to teach you how that feels.
Oh so now I need to be taught a lesson .... IYO ?

I didn't crap all over anything, I merely stated opposition , and asked some questions. And if I post about anything , and you or whomever oppose my view, that's fine , that's a discussion . I promise my heart will not be broken. I'm not that fragile.

Maybe you could learn something, like common courtesy, maybe even respect. Maybe you could learn that it's not all about you, and the entitlements you seem to think you have.

I never said a word about any entitlements for myself , or anyone. And I never implied that it was in any way .... about me.

And as far as respect and courtesy go ...... what does that have to do with me voicing an opinion ? Are you suggesting that I am [on any topic] being disrespectful , just because I may not agree with you ?

It's not about agreeing with me, I actually could care less about your opinions, I'm talking about your tenancy to bomb other peoples threads, like this one.

respect and courtesy

Everyone deserves it, don't you think?

O well, on another tack, this topic stimulated me to read Exodus 20 in full. I recommend using a Bible with commentary/notes to gain full understanding of the context.

I have yet to read the Laws of Hammurabi that are thought to be an earlier code (Babylonian) on which the Hebrew commandments were based.

Instead of arguing about the political use of the Ten Commandments in public schools, I suggest looking past the political to the historical.

NB I am assuming that they don't appear directly in the US Constitution.

Edit. I just learned that Hammurabi is depicted somewhere in in a frieze of the SCOTUS building. He is depicted in front of Moses who is holding a stone tablet.

Interesting, eh?

I do not like when people mix religion and politics. If I was the Devil I would strongly encourage mixing the two. 😈
Nothing stagnates a country more than religion. Bible thumpers use God to push through their personal agendas or to block the ones that they are against. I have always been against letting religion creep into politics. And also into schools. They already have church and Sunday school for religion. I propose to make Sunday school start teaching about American History, Math, Science, and Grammar. See how the Bible thumpers like that. :geek:

Your proposition is unconstitutional.

Thank God I'm an Atheist. The only place in a school that the 10 commandments belong is in a class on mythology.

"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?"

Mark Twain
