The meal of Liver and Onions and why you like or don't like?

This is interesting Kate. Can you share more about how it's actually cooked? Is it cooked on a BBQ or just simmered in BBQ sauce in the oven or a crock pot or what? Sounds like something I might like to try 😋
It's simmered slowly in the bbq sauce on stovetop, @MrPants . Liver gets coated in flour and browned first and then it simmers slowly in the sauce. It works with regular liver, but the more tender calves liver is better. The sauce is just the normal homemade bbq sauce.... ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, etc. etc.

I love liver and onions. I used to cook it when my son was young but he refused to eat it. Today he reminds me what function the liver serves but I still love it. I no longer buy meat (except for chicken occasionally) and my son hasn't eaten meat in years. I treat myself to a liver and onions dinner from Kelsey & Kim's when I'm going to be at the timeshare in Atlantic City for more than 2 or 3 days. Their dinners are large enough that I can eat off them two or three times.

My husband loves liver and onions but will eat it without the onions just so our pets can eat it too. He had it tonight and while he finished his I got to feed our pets who sat patiently waiting for their share. I wish I liked it as much as my man does. As a kid we had it once a week. Even then I fed mine to our dogs after everyone else left the table 🤫😇

My husband always loved Liver and Kidneys. That was their staple diet when they were young, 10 children in the family. We were going to have a party at our place and he said to cook Liver and Bacon for all the old boys. They loved it and was gone off the table within 20 minutes. None of the ladies had any.

Ox liver or lamb's liver, occasionally pork liver.

Cooked in pan with butter with rashes of bacon, sauteed onions, tea gravy, mashed potatoes and corn niblets. Best source of iron. Around holidays, chicken and turkey liver as well.

Used to try veal but haven't seen any for decades now up here. It was so tender.

Organ meats always been favourites. Heart and kidneys too. Beef and kidney pie with puff pastry.

This meal is one I have always preferred as a bimonthly meal, gosh I much enjoy
it too, tender cooked liver and sauteed onions, with mashed potatoes and gravy,
and Brussel sprout veges. Having it tonight, with cheesecake for dessert ;)
I used to love liver and onions with mashed potatoes. But now I've gone squeamish about preparation of it. Offal is not something I could face these days.
