The new practice to prevent mass shootings

There are more people onboard a modern aircraft carrier than this town and for 10 miles in all directions yet there are no mass shootings there. Today the local law enforcement/fire are practicing an active shooter at the local high school/medical center... just in case? there aint nothing here but tourists and cows, tourists and horses, tourists and gift shops.. is this now going to be the norm for the U.S.? no worries about foreign terrorists, worry about high schoolers.
 

Mass shootings can happen anywhere where there is a disturbed person with a gun. And, that's just about everywhere. If they didn't have these drills and something happened, some would say "
Why weren't you prepared for it?" Yes, it's a sad commentary on us. Our local Jr. high school has just erected a steel fence around the campus. People are scared.

There have always been disturbed people. But, now they know that if they do something really horrendous, their whole life story will be spread all over the internet. That's the kind of attention they crave.

One of the Best ways to reduce these mass shootings is the statement that says "See Something, Say Something". In many of these recent shootings, especially where the schools are involved, the shooter has made statements to fellow students, or on Facebook, indicating his intentions. Anyone who sees or hears such a threat Must report it to the authorities, and they Must take it seriously. In these "workplace" shootings, the shooter often has issues with fellow workers, or has been fired, and comes back for revenge. Such workers should be closely monitored and considered dangerous.
 
I agree we should prepare and stand up for ourselves when possible. Predators look for easy prey that won't fight back.

Maybe we should just arm everyone and live like those in the old American west?
 
We go through periods of civil unrest, like mass shootings. Back in the mid 30s, it was the era of the "mad bomber". Thankfully, that era faded out.We have to weather this mass shooter era till it abates. But the problem of too many people with way too many guns will still be here. I know when the gun crowd hears this type of sentiment, they think we want to take away all their toys. And to an extent that some want to bring gun ownership back to reasonable amounts, they are correct. We have a choice. More restrictive gun legislation or more dead citizens.
