The original simple soul.

Every long once in awhile I think back to the day when I walked out onto our concrete slab front porch and found rose petals scattered just above the steps.
I looked on my security camera and saw a young woman in red dressed about like little Red Riding Hood reach into her pocket and toss a handful of rose petals up on the edge of our front porch.
I got on the local site and asked who Little Red Riding Hood was and they told me that is Ashley and that she lives in her own little world and that she probably scattered rose petals all over town that morning.
Found out that she lives with her father a few blocks south down the street.
I see her a lot walking up and down the street and she is doing all kinds of things while listening to the voices in her head.
You never know what style of clothes she will be wearing and she even dyed her hair blonde one time. She looked so classy as a blonde in a tight green dress and with sunglasses on that I had to look twice to figure out who the good looking woman was.
She is easier to spot these days because of the way she holds her cell phone out about a foot from her face while talking to an imaginary person.
I’m not infatuated with her or anything but it is interesting to watch all of the things she does.
Sad that she is the way she is because God probably gave her a beautiful soul.

We never had anyone leave rose petals on our porch before and that is what I remember the most about her. That she wanted to share something of beauty with people around town. Too bad that there aren’t more people who care about others the way that I think she does.
Maybe I’m putting too much thought into it.

When I was a child we had people like that who lived in the community, who were harmless but insane.... today she's very likely to be the victim of people who are criminally insane since they stopped using Mental asylums

I like to think of people like her as simple because like you said she seems harmless.
I prefer saving the word insane for someone who is a problem for other people.
I suppose that when the parent caretaker dies then they probably put these kind of people in a group home or something.
That alone would be a cruel thing to do to someone who is harmless.
Funny how so many people beg someone to adopt cats and dogs but would never think of helping out someone like this.
My wife and I are too old to do a lot of worrying about anybody else any longer.

She sounds harmless and, so long as she is being cared for properly, surely it's better for her to be with her family than locked up somewhere?
