The Perfect Pet

The perfect pet is a singular gold fish. It's hard to get emotionally attached to the critter but it is very soothing to your nerves to watch it swim about and if you come home and it's floating belly up you take em out and feed it to the cat or eat em yourself instead of anchovy, with white wine of course. Almost time for my dinner and as I look at my fish bowl I am not sure if Ralph is dead or not. I will wait till morning and have some thing else for dinner. :)

One summer a spider spun a rather elaborate web inside one of our windows. As we watched things develop we became aware that the spider wasn't catching much perhaps because the web was in the house and the window was closed. So I took it upon myself to catch a large fly and throw it into the web. Such excitement. The hungry spider rushed out its hiding place and added a few additional threads to further secure the fly. We didn't stay and watch but the next day there were only a few bits of the fly remaining. Two days later we repeated the "feeding" and every few days there after. It's hard to say how we knew that the spider appreciated our efforts, but through body language we did get the thank you message. This continued most of the summer and then one day the spider wasn't there. But it was fun while it lasted. We of course named the spider Charlotte.

See...now I would have felt sorry for the flies..
