The Price of Gas Has Been Going Down (at least here in upstate New York)

Still love 50's & 60's music!
While some have been yammering about the "soaring prices of gas" on television, I've been having a great laugh. In previous months the price had been in the three seventies and three sixties. But then it went down to the three twenties and prices like $3.15 a gallon. Then last week in town it was $3.07 a gallon. I was wondering if it would dip below $3, and sure enough it did. I just put some gas in my car, and it was down to $2.97 a gallon. :D

This is bad news for the cause of global warming. We need to raise gas prices "sky high" to get rid of all those monster 4X4 trucks with their crew cabs that burn a great amount of nonrenewable gas.

I have seen too many people sitting in their trucks while running their A/C and starring at their smartphones. It's criminal!!!

Yes! The cost of Gasoline is going down all over the country just before election time.
If you keep track of what it cost before and what it costs now- after —then you can see how much extra money the feds were lining their pockets with for the last three and a half years!

One time when I saw the price of gas going down substantially but it didn’t in our local service station. I asked the manager why she wasn’t lowering her prices too.
She told me that she has to sell all of the gas in her reserves before she can lower prices.
I didn’t ask her why the gas in the reserves didn’t matter when she was raising prices.

I've seen that too, and they never look like they can afford to be wasting gas like that. Maybe they're sitting in company vehicles, but they don't look like it.

As far as raising gas prices, that would hurt the poor the most. They could increase taxes on gas guzzlers, and that might cause people to buy more fuel efficient vehicles, but that won't happen any time soon.

Our only hope is that advances in battery technology eventually make EVs more practical, which will make the internal combustion engine obsolete.

Gas prices going down? Not to worry, OPEC will cut production to tighten up the supply. Then we'll be paying normal prices again.
No need to do that. It’s over $4 a gallon in my state thanks to our carbon tax. “A few Pennies a gallon“ that’s what the guv said. Who needs a greedy cartel when you have that kind of nonsense?

It was going down here, but then it spiked up last Thursday, however only by a dime. It has since leveled off. I wish they wouldn’t bother raising or lowering it for less than a quarter. Ten cents has no effect on my pocketbook.

Wish it was as cheap here as it is in the US. The average price for unleaded here is £1.36 Per litre... ( 3.78 litres in a US gallon .. one gallon costs approx $5.16 US)

4.56 litres in a UK Gallon... so the cost of a Gallon for us is £6.20

The Chinese economy has been slowing down. They are using less. It’s the same reason it went low during the pandemic. China uses A LOT of oil. And the summer driving season ending in the US.

On Nov. 6th, the day after US elections, OPEC will announce that due to the increase in heating oil use the gas price will go up. Then in May, they will announce that gas prices will go up due to increased summer driving.
It happens every year like clockwork, I think it has something to with the position of planets.

Still averaging $3.33 here according to GasBuddy... but I guess local stations didn't get the memo yet. Lowest I've seen in the area this week has been $3.39.

Gas at the station I usually use was $2.79.9 for a gallon of regular. Call it $2.80. Adjusted for inflation (CPI Inflation Calculator) that comes to an even 28 cents a gallon in June of 1965 when I graduated from High School. So from a relative standpoint gas is just as cheap as it was back in the good old days when it was cheap. Yet today the usual suspects are complaining about how expensive it is.
