The problem with religion

Methinks: the messages are more important than who are the messengers.

Perhaps your time outside of the USA, has left you short of knowledge about the USA today!
Whether it has or hasn't is irrelevant, because it doesn't change the fact that divorce rates are lower for American males who have married women from Southeast Asia.

It has been said that believers are cowards because they have merely managed to relieve their fear of death. Also that because choices and decisions of a believer are based on an unknown, they should never be considered valid ie their opinions should be ignored, considered possibly reckless.

Generally, I don't see the jeopardy. You can't know, for sure, a God exists, until you die. You can't know for sure a God doesn't exist at the same point. In both cases, it's too late to change anything. Meaning, there's no price to pay for having a God belief. If they're wrong, well they're dead.

Reckless comes in to play with fanatics. For example, those strapping bombs to their belts and walking into crowds. They're a danger to all.

As a believer, I'm not sure how I'd get through the day thinking that most people I meet are going to hell...........

What if you were trying to be hired to serve in the Government and you had to pass a test that showed you were in line with the Governments policies. Sounds reasonable, no? I am not quite so sure about that. It sounds a bit authoritarian to me.

Yes. But many people worship Buddha as God.
Their image of their God/s are quite striking.

As I see it, the "problem with religion" is there are so many of them, and every one believes they are the only true religion and every other one is false. Thru-out history, countless deaths have resulted from this belief.

Actually relgions peple agree on many things. Such as how little the news media and social media actually knows about them.

I have "trust" in many things. I trust that when I sit in this chair, it will hold me up and not break. I trust this because the chair is rated for 250lbs weight. I trust this because I have sat in this chair hundreds of times and it has always held me up. My trust is based on facts and evidence, not faith. If we're discussing religious faith, that is something entirely different. Religious faith is not based on facts or evidence. If you know something, if you have evidence, there is no need for faith. Religious faith is simply believing something in the absence of facts or evidence.
I agree with this but remain a woman who follows my intuition at times. It's not based upon formal religion but it's not scientific or factual in the way we understand science, facts and logic.

Women's intuition. They wish.
We should trust our intuition of danger etc, it may save our lives, but it's only subjective, not a tool to be used to sway an argument, or a whip to be used on others.
