The running of the bulls(Spain) or Bulls running INTO teen(ouch)

I don't care. I saw it, and altho' I felt his pain, and it wasn't a pleasant sight... he shouldn't have been there

The running of the Bulls is a horrific event held in Spain... and Spain was ordered to stop by the European courts.. they ignored it...

Whenever I see this ..I want the Bull to win... altho' clearly he doesn't win.. that poor animal, in pain and in panic....
 
How in the hell can you not know trying to outrun a thousand pound animal with horns could lead to death and maiming. It's a stupid thing to do to prove one's manhood, and equally abusive to the animals herded into running through streets for the pleasure of the crowd.
 

1967. My sister and I thought it would be "fun" to go to the running, so we hopped on a train.

Our feet hadn't even touched to platform floor before the police stopped us.

"Where are you staying?"

"I don't know...we'll find a place."

"This is no place for you little girls!" and we were put back on the train.

In retrospect, it certainly was NOT a safe place for a couple of teenage girls in the midst of thousands of men hyped up on testosterone, alcohol and machismo.

I thank the Spanish police for having more sense than us.
 
As you all know I have a second home in Spain... have had for over 20 years... I have been to a Bull ring to visit, only because we were in the area.. and only when there was no bullfight going on.... I would never support a Bullfight...or the Running of the Bulls.. ever.

The Spanish think we say these things because we're not Spanish and don't understand their ways... well BS to that.. and that's an intended Pun...

Although I agree with what you are saying ..... how can the "European" courts order "Spain" to do anything ? Doesn't Spain have their own courts ?

You are quite right. The European Court gives rulings on proceedings against states or institutions that have not fulfilled their obligations under EU law nothing to do with civil matters in Spain or elsewhere.

Bullfighting sadly is legal in Spain. When Catalonia took it upon themselves to ban bullfighting, the Supreme Court of Spain overturned the ban.
They declare, although any region could regulate bullfighting, they cannot ban it as it is part of Spain’s cultural heritage.
 
I've never been to Spain, but when I worked in Europe I could watch bullfighting on TV. It is not a sport, but a 'spectacle' . You all know who will win, but it is the fight that people want to see. I found it quite fascinating. Whether I approve or not, it's an issue for the Spanish.
