The sad story of a great grandson of Czar Alexander III

Warrigal, thanks for the very interesting but sad, post. I have a book on Tsar Nicholas & Alexandra, a' Life long story' with records taken from their diaries & how the gullibility of Alexandra, stemming from their sons Haemophilia, allowing Grigori Rasputin to treat the disease, helped bring down the Romanov dynasty.
It was fantastic reading, but knowing their outcome made the book that more poignant.

Very interesting, I didn't notice his age mentioned in the article. The Russian monarchy and aristocracy was disposed of in a very nasty fashion during the Russian revolution, this great-grand son is lucky he got out and got to live out his life in Australia, albeit, sadly dying alone. But that happens to many many people all over the world. Sadly, if I were alive during the revolution in Russia I might have been one of the starving angry rabble cheering on the demise of the spoiled and privileged royalty. So its not really a sad story IMO, but a story of survival.

The above post is obviously not of a Royalist. I can't say that I am, but being born into a life of wealth & privilege is not a crime. The murder of all their family, children included, plus servants was callous, (as is all murders).
They and their
servants were herded into the cellar of their prison house and executed. Shot in cold blood, smacks of Isis methodology.

Yes, I'm not a royalist at all, and I don't advocate killing off the monarchies that already exist. The Russia Revolution was heinous in many many ways, the commies murdered everyone that stood in their way. The French Revolution was equally bloody as we learned from history classes. That's what desperate and starving humans do when they are pushed far enough, as we have seen.

It's through no fault of their own that the royals have to suffer their plight of being rich and famous, but I don't see them giving up their thrones either, or living less lavishly. I don't believe in fawning and drooling over the royals or aristocrats, but must admit I do like to read what they are up to sometimes.
