The Saudi Fence

Perhaps a moat would do the trick if they could find the water...

I was talking about our US fence to keep all the illegals out from Mexico.
They are STILL pouring in day by day.
We could spare you about 4,000 under age 15 kids from all of South America if you want to help.
 
The Saudi fence... 500 miles. Mexico/U.S. border... 1,945 miles. Many of today's illegals come in through tunnels. Tunnels could still bore under a fence system. Many of today's illegals come by boat. If a fence is constructed, what stops illegals from boating around the fence and coming on land in southern California or east Texas?

It's easy to suggest a fence would solve all the issues. It won't. Until the U.S. gets serious about harsh penalties for those employing illegals, we will still have problems. Until the U.S. gets serious about refusing humanitarian aid to illegals... that we won't do. Until the U.S. gets serious about refusing education to illegals... that we won't do. Until we require all residents to communicate in English... that we won't do.

A fence is NOT the answer. A fence might slow illegal immigration for the short term, but we would simply see the route and method changed to accomodate illegal entry by another means.
 
A fence would work in that it would stop the larger numbers of illegals crossing the border but they will find another way. But at least they will have to work for it and perhaps the coyotes would have to raise their rates enough to price the average illegal out of existence.

GOM is correct, if you want to see results in illegal immigration, go after the business owners that hire them and prosecute them severely, more than just a slap on the wrist.

Well if Scotland gets indpenedence they might be building a 500 mile fence there along the English border LoL

And, the problem there is politics. The politicians doing the most howling about illegals are those whose campaign chests are bolstered by the same folks hiring the illegals. If they prosecute the corporations hiring the illegals, they will lose campaign funding.
