The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.

Thank you Mitch. Here's a passage that helps me when I'm worried:

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.*

*Philippians 4:5-7

We said the first part of the Serenity prayer before each Naranon meeting when my son was in active addiction and so I needed those meetings like I needed to breathe. šŸ˜”

Our Sgt. in the Marines had the Serenity Prayer taped on the wall in Latrine, of all places. I read that thing so many times, I actually memorized it back then.
