The State of Origin 2024

I doubt many posters on here will know anything about this.

I know of it but don't follow it or care who won, being in an AFL state.

It's a form of Rugby Football known as Rugby League. The games of rugby and cricket were the sports played in the fee-paying schools of the UK. Those sports are steeped in class distinction, the story is a bit long winded but none the less, interesting. You can read about it here.

How long do they get to practice with guys they don't play with all year?
As this happens during the Rugby League season, they get 14 days between matches, and the rest of the time they play for whichever club they belong to.
YEAH!!!!!!!! It was a fantastic game. I sat in my loungeroom cheering them on, don't know what the neighbours thought. My son said
he cheered so loud the cat ran out of the room. The Blues beat the Maroons 2 games to I.
:LOL: Poor kitty, I watched at the club, talk about loud cheering!
It was a great atmosphere, even the bar staff were into it 😆

Yes I've heard the term aerial pingpong before.

I've also heard the term thugby - so I guess we all make fun of games we do not follow.

Although it seems to me AFL is growing in non AFL states, after all NSW and QLD both have 2 AFL teams in the national league - but rugby isn't equally growing in AFL states.

@January
I don't know about NRL's management but the ARU has had some poor management of late.
AFL is in many ways the antithesis of rugby codes, the length of the field and the length of the game totally change the athletic dynamics. Then there's the skill set involved.

Rakaia - I'm really not sure what your last post is saying or how it relates to what I said - of course there are different skill sets involved - as there are between all sports - some skills the same, some different in all ball sports.
