The Three Stooges

I have always loved The Three Stooges. Most female friends I have had don't like them. I watched them all the time when I was a kid and have always thought they were funny. I'm still amazed by their timing. I think they had amazing timing. And there were no fancy filming tricks back then. Whenever I watch them I get popcorn and just sit back and relax. The stooges make me grin.

How about you?
Like the stooges?

The Stooges rock! I continue to watch them, probably going on 60 years now....
yay! Another Stooge fan :) When I was a kid there were 3 of us girls. We nicknamed each other after the 3 Stooges. My oldest sister was Larry, I was Curly, and my other sister was Moe. My sister who got nicknamed Moe has Maureen as her real name. Well.. sadly Moe stuck with Maureen and hate it or not she has been called Moe by everyone all her life. I make a special effort to call her Maureen. Everyone else still calls her Moe ;)

Some of the old comedians showed far more talent than most of those today....and did so without resorting to obscenities. The 3 Stooges were great, and I think my all time favorite was Red Skelton.

I used to like them as a kid, haven't watched them in decades...very funny at the time for sure. Liked the episodes with Curly.

I enjoyed watching them when I was a kid, so hilarious! Slapstick comedy with lots of cream pies in the face made me roll on the floor laughing.

I love the stooges and still watch them for a good laugh. I love slapstick anyway and the stooges were 3 of the best at it. Curly Howard was the funniest guy ever. I laugh just looking at him and all the kooky expressions and noises he came up with. The chicken with it's head cut off was priceless.

I used to watch them a lot as a kid and still like them.......not that it matters but apparently the actor Mel Gibson is a huge fan and has everyone of their movies that they ever made.

I was never a fan of the Stooges. When I think about it now, I believe it was because they frightened me...I grew up in a loud, abusive home (until Mom married my step-Dad). In any case, I much preferred Laurel and Hardy. Of course they came along well before the Stooge's time, but our local TV station ran a Laurel & Hardy movie every weekend when I was a kid (and they remained relative for many decades).

Laurel and Hardy had a much slower pace of comedy, much more intimate, not violent, and each "gag" was fully developed, sometimes over the course of several minutes.

By the time the Three Stooges came along the world had changed to a much faster pace, and I think their comedy reflects that - fast gags, very visual, very violent.

Today's "comics" (note there are no more teams?) rely upon crudeness and profanity - no "art" in it at all.

Excellent observation, Sifu. It could be said of any media and movies and programs, too...fast and furious (as adjectives, not a movie title). The cartoons my g-kids would watch (if I let them) are so in the face! All screaming and flashes of color. And nothing else.

Watched them some times. Actually, I enjoyed Abbott and Costello and the Keystone Cops more.
Yeah I liked them to. I also have their autographs in my dads autograph book.
