The truth about China.

Got an email, today. It's kind of strange. I don't believe I have any Asian relatives, and my last name is obviously French, but this is what I got

As a Chinese person, what do you think about what the Western media say about China's government and the Chinese way of life? What's true and what's false in your opinion?

I can honestly say that with all the Asian blood, pulsing through my body, I don't know if it's true that you get hungry a hour after you eat Chinese.

That sounds like Malware, or a Trojan. If I were you I would run an Anti-Virus scan on your computer at your first opportunity. Opening such an e-mail increases your risk for hacking any of your personal/financial information you might have on your system. Pay Close attention to your banking, and credit card, etc., sites in coming days. In the future, if you receive any such messages, send them to your spam folder, then empty the folder.

As a non-Chinese person I think the Western media only know about 10% of what's going on in the West.

In the evening I watch NHK & DW news on PBS for that very reason. Just trying to keep up with what the rest of the world is doing, and what they may think about us. Sometimes very enlightening .

I think it's OK to open any email you receive. Just don't click on any link they ask you to go to. Some of them are very tricky. They just say something like, "I thought you'd be interested in this," or something inocuus like that, and bingo, you have malware!

Of course, there's no need to open anything.

I would agree. They are a very secretive country. The Chinese government share very little about their inner workings, namely politics, and they do things to their people that would be considered abhorrent to us that live in more civilized countries.

I have a friend that lives just a few homes from me that ‘escaped’ from China about 20 years ago. He is an internal medicine doctor and has told me many stories about his life in China. If I didn’t consider him to be trustworthy, I would find some of his stories very difficult to believe.

I was surprised to read in my paper today that youth crime is on the rise in China. Is this because of Western influence? I had imagined that punishment in China was so harsh that any crime was discouraged.

China is probably the U.S’s worst enemy at this time, including the economy, military and industry. We (the U.S.) allow too many of our products to be made in China, including our medicines. China should not be trusted. Supposedly, they have more spies in this country than any other.

I fully agree. Everything China does is contrary to our nations best interest. When shopping, I try to avoid buying anything made in China, but that is almost impossible. I would dearly love to see our government put a hefty tax on American corporations which have moved their production to China.
And....no matter what the governments say, I remain convinced that this Corona Virus is the result of some Biological Warfare Research that was taking place in Wuhan, and went horribly wrong.
