Oh, they're still around. See them occasionally cruising along the coast.

Well, yeah ... I meant as an everyday thing in every town in the country.

But people place a premium on speed, so I don't see how they could ever return to the limelight even if their technical problems were all solved.

Was just thinking (terrible habit) how our modern world seems to no longer need much human intervention to keep running. We build machines to serve us and they no longer need us. I Robot...

Funny you bring that up - I was just watching 2001: A Space Odyssey for the umpteenth time last night.

I found myself rooting for HAL.
