There is a new manager at my workplace

How much long service leave do you have up your sleeve?
@Bretrick That's a pity. I was going to suggest that you take leave and shop around for a better job.

Next question. Is there a shortage of skilled, qualified labour where you live? Are you, as a 'senior' going to find it hard to get another job? Remember the old saying, "Last on, first off", that might still apply should the economy take a sharp downturn.

I kinda figured when I saw the title, that getting a new manager was not a good thing. šŸ™ Being micromanaged must be intensely annoying. I hope you are able to find work elsewhere, but if you don't, how long do you have before you can retire?

Hi guys, our business is as good as your combined commitments to service our customers. Remember they will love you.
I may seem to be hard to get to sometimes. But I'm gonna absorb the higher above slack for you. Carry on with your love of our customers!

I have had a cursory look at available positions. One I applied for and was offered the position, then I learnt that the wage was the same I am on now with no overtime. That would mean my take home pay would be less than current.
At this stage in my life, having started saving late, I do need to save as much as possible in the 4 years left until I retire.

Thank you. I have 4 more years of working life. With the retirement age having been raised to 67.
Good and bad with this. Bad being 4 more years of work. Good, in a sense, 4 more years to build on my savings.

Maybe he needs more rope?
The trouble is, no employees are in a position to challenge him, for fear of losing their jobs. That is their perception and I am not going to pressure any of them to assist.
I have been in this situation before. Two positions back, I managed to have sacked/removed 5 management/middle management for bullying/unconscionable behaviour.
But I had to do it on my own, of the 25 employees, no one put their hands up to assist me.
I took on management and bettered them.
This did take an emotional toll on me but I persevered because the workforce was cowed into silence.

Yes I know how it feels I slugged it out for three years at the City of Bayswater.
I lost the war and won many battles, eventually we went in front of the Industrial Relations Commission. I'm proud that I gave a good account of myself, but I wouldn't do it again.
I strongly suggest that you at least keep a workplace diary as it can used as evidence if necessary.

A wrong plate was cut by an operator - not myself - my leading hand informed the manager.
He stated - If it happens again a written warning will be given.
Company policy is that when mistakes occur no one will be reprimanded. Report the error and it will be rectified.
If the same person continues to make mistakes then appropriate written warnings will be instigated.

I approached the manager querying his response.
Stating to him, that Joe Para... the bigger boss, has reiterated the above response to mistakes.
I asked the manager if company policy has changed.
He backtracked saying it was a miscommunication. Which I do not believe but never said that to him.
The guy is trying to have the workforce cower to his will.
Of the 6 workers here, one is leaving next month and three others - including myself - are looking for work elsewhere.

Do you have anything along the line of a union, workers' representative, handbook with proceedures and guidelines?
