There maybe a lesson in this

I know there is a greater, symbolic message to all of this, but I don't quite get it. Share with us, Feywon.

The lesson may be this; play dead, and maybe the aggressive bullies will grow tired of your passivity or hurt their hands from hitting you, and give up or turn on themselves. I’ve seen this strategy used on school playgrounds…

Good topic feywon . Reminds me of what seems to be happening with opposing politicians lately where they lose sight of the issue in the heat of the fight.

Different people may take away different things, but @Paco Dennis nailed the big one i was thinking about.
The lions weren't being bullies, they have to eat, Water Buffalo is natural prey--all the animals involved understand this. For me their capture of their prey is like a taking first steps toward a societal or familial goal--but if we as family/society get so hung up on squabbling about the details for getting it done the goal gets lost. True it may be brought back into focus, just as these lions no doubt caught other prey later on, but how much time is lost? And how much damage is done to relationships in the meantime.
