.....why 68-year-old women don't have babies. End of week one of 16 to 24 hours a day being the caregiver for a fussy newborn. Two more weeks to go. I might survive. I love the little tyrant but SHE WON'T SLEEP!
I think I would want to be certain baby wasn't experiencing light colic before I stuck her in purdah. Mine had gas for a week, then it mysteriously vanished. He slept! I didn't become a serial killer! All was right in my still sleep deprived world.
I'm sorry jujube, may it pass quickly. As much as I like to think I would have enjoyed adopting again late in life, I don't know if I'd be up to another infant again.
Plus the milk bar has been closed more than a decade. I used to nurse on demand. If the baby did more than squeak it had a nummie in it's mouth. Worked really well at the time, but with someone else's baby it would be tricky.
Have you tried 'wearing' her in one of those Snugglies or something like that? My oldest was like that too and I finally figured out that the best thing was to tuck her into the Snuggly and go about my business. New babies are comforted by that movement and the feeling of closeness. Maybe that would help you get some quiet? I remember too well what it was like and sometimes you just want QUIET!!!!
