There's a new "Fluff Butt" in town!

Yesterday afternoon, Goober got into some poison.

The poison that he was in, destroys the liver, so it is slow acting. He may have a few days, or he may have a few years....there's no way to know. There is nothing that a Vet can do, we just have to wait.

For now, I'm going to continue to do what I can to ensure that he is a happy boy, doing the things that cats enjoy doing.

Goober seems to be doing ok, for now. He is loving the empty box that I gave him, last week! That poor box is all beat up now, but he still enjoys playing with it!

Goober spent his first night outside...he did great!!! He's a big boy now!

I suspect that

didn't sleep a lot last night, he seems a bit groggy this afternoon. After our walk this morning, I brought out an indoor kitty bed and put it in the sun, on the porch. I just looked out the window, and he is sound asleep! 😴

I found a big rock, and decided to use it as a tribute to all of my cats who had played in the woods behind The Fairy Garden, even before I had a garden there.

I have the finished project on a snack tray, so you can see it's size.

My goal was to finish making this tribute before winter. I'm glad I did!

Remember The Fairy House that I spent all last winter making? The one thing that I did not foresee was that I would have an insane kitten playing in the garden!!! As you can see, the kitten won.....

The Fairy House is now in 3 pieces, and not repairable! I did sort of restack the pieces and balance them the best I could. It is only temporary. I'm pretty sure that

is quite pleased with himself!

I have added the new rock to The Fairy Garden. It turned out just as I had hoped it would.

The good thing is that it gives

something to do, as he is still trying to figure out how to break it!!

Recently, we got the "winter" cat house out of storage, so that I could get it ready for

to use it when the cold weather gets here.

I took this picture after I scraped the loose paint off. It was so sad to see Andy's name still on it. 😢

Yesterday, I finished repainting the house. Then I filled it with soft dry grass. We won't set it up and put it out until it's actually needed, but it's ready when the time comes.

Goober hasn't tried it out yet, but I have a feeling that he'll like it!

I heard the coyotees during the night, they sounded closer to the house than usual. It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while they will come up to the edges of the woods (by the Fairy Garden). So the first thing I did this morning was to go out and check on Goober.

I'm happy to say that all is well! He came trotting over to me (from the Fair Garden!!!!! 😲), ready for his walk!! I asked him if I could have my coffee first!!

He either stayed by the house (the coyotees won't go by the house), or went up a tree.

He really is a smart kitty, with amazing survival instincts!

I don’t understand why he’s not living in the house. In Nevada we call outdoor cats coyote cookies. We lived right in town on a busy street and I’ve seen them walking down the street. Our neighbor kept letting her cats out and lost all 4 of them through the years. I wouldn’t let my little dogs go outside without me. He’s a beautiful kitty.

Thanks TT!

My husband, Dio, and I agree that a cat is in their natural element when they are outdoors. (Right now he is at the tree line, eating something that he caught)

However, I do let them in once they have learned to follow the rules. Goober has already started coming in the house at times. He is the youngest cat we've had, to start coming in. He is learning fast! He really is a smart boy!

I would have called him Angel. The pattern on his nose and between the eyes looks like an angel to me.
Yes!!!! You are not the only one to see it! Surprisingly, I never noticed it myself. Someone else pointed it out to me, and now I always see it! 👼.

Sometimes I call him "Angel Face"! Other times I tell him that he is my Angel on the outside and a devil on the inside! 😅

Goober helps me with everything! He even supervised while I was cleaning the interior of the truck....checking everything out for Quality Assurance! 🙄

He's very smart and knows that he's not allowed in the barn (too many things that could hurt him)......now, if only I could get him to CARE that he's not supposed to be in there!

I haven't talked about this before. It was too painful, and I guess I was just waiting to see what was going to happen.

Short Version-
For quite a while now,
emoticon
has either thrown up his food or (eventually) just stopped eating at all. Basically, he was getting no nutrition and was starving to death....and we didn't know it. 😥

More Details-
Eventually, I realized that something was wrong.

It was one week ago today, that I thought that Goober was not going to live through the weekend. He had lost a pound and a half in the 3 weeks since we last weighed him. That's a lot, for an 8 month old kitten. He was so weak and skeletal!

Last Friday, I was so desperate that I gave him a can tuna...and he ate it all down! The next day we bought him a different brand of cat food and more tuna, and he has been eating it with no problems since then!

Today we weighed him, and he has regained a full pound in one week!!!! His ribs are NOT poking through anymore, and he is energetic, and even a bit playful!!!

We had been buying the same brand of cat food for over 20 years. All of our previous cats ate it without any problems.

I decided to ask my friend (Mr Google) about the other cat food. I found out that, on Sept 3rd there was a recall on that food! No wonder he was starving!!!!

Needless to say, I'm VERY relieved that we figured it out in time, and he is recovering well!
