They used to bust you for having it, now they're growing it.

In 1962, I got a part time job in a discount department store in an old fabric mill. Today, that building is an official Massachusetts' Cannabis Farm.

BTW, I haven't smoked since the 80s. In one very long weekend, I found the meaning of life. It was Stan Laurel. You had to be there.stan laurel.jpg

Okay. Weed is legal here in Washington state. But I'm about 50 years past caring. (I don't partake in smoking or brownies or what they call "edibles", etc.) Not interested in getting high.

There is some sort of cannabis cream that's a painkiller. That stuff works like crazy, but it would seem like you'd only want to put that on a tiny part of your body, like one tiny dab ... not smear it all over!

I cannot stand weed or the smell from people who smoke it..disgusting.. but I could use some of that cream if it's as powerful as you say.. what's it called ?

In the seventies, I worked for awhile at High Times Magazine. I was in accounting. I did get to partake in one photo shoot. Some might remember those. Had a friend with a similar room. He got sent up for it. He would allow friends to dive in and wade. Once in a lifetime experience.

@hollydolly, the jar I have is labeled "CBD Tissue and Joint Cream" made by Flow By Fairwinds. The large(ish) jar I have is several years old (I've kept it refrigerated all this time). I don't see quite the same thing on the Flow by Fairwinds website, but these have similar ingredients:

FLOW Cream - Fairwinds Manufacturing
FLOW Gel - Fairwinds Manufacturing

I don't know that they ship out of state or out of the country, though. Technically, cannabis is still illegal in "the United States", but individual states are going their own way and it's not interfered with.

it's illegal in the Uk as well..altho' we can buy CBD gummies and capsules but I've never found those to be of any use..so I thought maybe something topical...

I do not want to smoke pot; but from what i have read, there are a lot of healing benefits in the plant itself, and you can get them from using the leaves . Some people put leaves in their green smoothies. I do not think that it is legal here in Alabama, but if it were, I would grow some, just to add the leaves into a smoothie for their healing benefits.
I think that you can get most of the same benefits from hemp, which is the same plant, but not specially grown to have more of the THC that makes people get high.

Couple years ago I bought top quality CBD tincture(muchas $$) and have to say I'd have been better off flushing the dollars down the toilet...had no effect whatsoever. Occasionally I'll pick up some THC gummies for some non-alcoholic 'feel good', they work as advertised.

Now that you mention it, we tried the tincture as well. For me, it didn't work as well as the cream. The difference was that, since you take it orally, the effect spread through the body — rather than just where I dabbed it on my body.

It's about time too, I've had my medical card for years, now it's open to everyone and there are jobs, the state is hauling in the tax dollars, and no one is going on cannabis-fueled crime waves.
(y)(y) Same here. I live in Missouri. I have used THC for IBS, and acute pain from Peripheral Neuropathy. My doctor knows and fully supports me using it. Now it is recreational. I wont need a card anymore because I do not use but about 1/8th of an once every two months.

yep ...same here never worked... and not even the gummies..I got them from a really reputable company as well... might as well have eaten smarties

What has amazed me in this age of MJ by script, is that you
buy it at a hold in the wall dispensary, not at a legit pharmacy,
I have never seen any research facts that MJ is going to cure
or relieve all the things they advertise it for, so who is getting
fooled here ?!?!?!

In todays paper...

Mental health specialists have warned that weed gummy candies, chocolate and cookies are just as damaging as smoked marijuana - if not more.

Marijuana you can eat - known as edibles - is often marketed as a less potent, 'healthier' alternative to inhaling the drug.

Many popular products are presented in brightly-colored packaging and shaped to look like teddy bears or jelly snakes.

top experts have accused the firms who make the candies of 'deceiving' consumers into 'believing they are safe'.

Although not smoking cannabis spares you lung and heart damage, psychiatrists say eating it is more harmful for mental health.

Risks include severe mental illness such as sudden psychosis, schizophrenia and depression, according to a wealth of studies.

One major 2019 analysis found regular use of cannabis was linked to a five-fold increased risk of severe psychosis.

'Edibles are more dangerous than marijuana in some ways,' Dr Libby Stuyt, a board-certified addiction psychiatrist working in Colorada told DailyMail.com.

'With edibles, it takes a while for THC [the psychoactive compontent in cannabis] to end up in the bloodstream, compared to the quick peak you get with inhaling.

'The delayed reaction - maybe two to four hours after eating - means that people often end up eating a lot more because they think nothing is happening.

'Then they get a great big whack of THC - and the high lasts a lot longer.'

What's more, she says consuming marijuana alongside fatty foods - including chocolate and cookies which are popular edibles - can increase the potency of THC four-fold.

more here... Weed edibles are WORSE for your mental health than smoking the drug

I cannot stand weed or the smell from people who smoke it..disgusting..
The smoke from weed & the odor from people who smoke it causes me breathing problems.

If marijuana is such a wonder drug & heals so much, why hasn't the drug industry cornered the market years ago & put it to use.

IMO, we haven't began yet to see the problems with marijuana & it's effect, especially with the GMO varieties that are coming. It is no longer the pot that existed in the 60s. That variety may not even exist anymore.

Preparing for a career in education in the 70’s, I was vigilant to avoid the marijuana on campus as a drug bust then could have derailed my career before it started. The pungent smell from dorm rooms alone was unmistakable…

TImes have changed, but Pennsylvania still only legalizes medical use of marijuana. Recreational use may be over the horizon, at which point I’ll have to worry about people driving stoned as well as drunk…

I’ve tried the CBD gummies, which I’ve found to be mildly helpful with arthritic pain, but not enough to justify their expense…

They used to run repeats of Dragnet early in the morning. I'd watch a bit while having breakfast and coffee. Yup, pot was a big deal. Busted. Imprissoned. I do think people went to prison for too long for things like that. But the times sure have changed. New dispensary in my town.
