They're still having those girl beauty pageants.

I was at a county fair one time and a bunch of little girls, about 8 to 10 years old, were on stage dancing to a song about ladies of the night and doing sexy moves. I was appalled and looked around to see if anyone else was disgusted and instead saw several men standing slack-jawed with full-on drooley face. It sickens me to remember it.

What are the parents thinking? Many of them say that it's just a fun thing to do with their child, but there are so many other fun things to do that don't put an overly high value on looks.

Could it be past beauty queen mothers re-living their peak .... through their daughters ?? think {Jon Benet Ramsey} or fat ugly mothers living vicariously through them ?
I think it's the mom's decision too.

This is from a movie. It's in incredibly bad, but funny taste.
It's not even original movie material, it's almost a direct copy of a scene in, "Little Miss Sunshine," where the daughter of the family competes using a stripper routine taught her by her grandfather. Somehow her parents had never watched her routine or hesitated to leave her alone for hours every day with a porn watching grandfather who talked sex constantly.

That movie was critically acclaimed for some mysterious reason. In both movies the judges and crowd act shocked, but if you ever saw some of the dances Jon Bonnet Ramsey and her little friends were taught, you would know they weren't far off from these. The judges aren't shocked by these routines, anymore than they're shocked by the elaborate make up and wigs. In the real world of pageants, little girls mimicking Vegas showgirls is considered, "cute."

@Della I've never watched that movie Little Miss Sunshine. I'll see if I can find that clip on YouTube. I still do think it's the parents allowing, perhaps even pushing these children.

Fat, ugly person here. However, I have kind of noticed some of those mothers are in that camp. I wouldn't pimp out my pets let alone a child. Something wrong there. I wonder what it does to the psyche of a child who is made to compete like this and what they are competing for is their looks. They can claim talent also, but most of that "talent" is probably some made up stuff or something the child is forced to learn.
