Things British....

Keep posting @ Jamala, it is good to view and read what you take time to
share, for myself, I am really liking it and what I am learning~

Understood. I just don't like reading posts that start off with a lie. But suit yourself.
ya know the interesting thing for me is the varied opinions and thoughts about
'crediting' a huge variety of information from members here or even elsewhere.
Sometimes It holds interest for me more than other times. I tend to enjoy & appreciate
much of Jamala's contributions to this forum and her posts. Therefore I don't lean in
the directions of seeing she or her participations with any negativity or intended falseness.
It is how we read and what we read into things, I would actually enjoy hearing more from
her on this topic already it motion, it holds my positive interest~

Of course I will continue to post Lady Em....
Now we can clearly see why some children are bullies at school.
They get good training and fine examples are set by their parents
as we can see from some posters on this thread.

Happy people do not attack others....here is a list of those who do:

Unhappy
Bored
Jealous
Nothing of value to offer.
I feel sorry for those whose only joy in life is to taunt, bully and gossip.
What a poor existence ....very sad.
I rest my case

Cheerio :):):)

Although some may have been born in Britain...some may know zilch about the UK. Those coming from other parts of the British Isles....same thing!!
This thread is not directed at these people.

This thread is a result of many questions asked of me by friends
OUTSIDE of SF.
If you have no interest in the thread, please show some good manners and
stay away from it.
Cheerio.....

I am sorry but I really don't care. If someone thinks they want to share, say something I don't care where that information comes from. If something strikes my interest, yes, I will go to google. I don't think of it as plagiarism, I think of it as sharing information from other sources, people. I do not care if someone cuts and copies. They are sharing information. I do not know how to put other things I read or see onto the site. I am technically stupid, I do not own a smartphone, I have a hard time adding pictures or other things.

I can fix a clogged sink, take the pipes apart to clean, I can fix some toilet problems, I can change my own faucets, I can install a new shower head. I can use any lawn equipment, not now, but I did it all when younger. I can take care of sick people, change diapers, give bed baths, do physical therapy.

I only know what I know, did not get a degree from college or university. That doesn't mean I have nothing to share or say. I went to the school of hard knocks, hard work and that has served me well. Many of the people that I knew in high school went to college, came from families that had money and now they are struggling. They were of the thought I grew up this way, I do not have to worry or work hard. Now they find themselves struggling to pay rent and buy groceries. Things can go bad for any person. I do not have those problems. Do not take things for granted and learn where you can without judgement. It is amazing we can all talk to one another across the world, I did not see that coming when I was young. This is the time to appreciate the things we can share. I do not think Jamala is saying she wrote this stuff, she is just sharing things that we all might enjoy, make us more open to learning about other countries, cultures.

Thank you Blessed for your very intelligent and kind post. It encourages me
when I see people like you and Lady Em on this thread.
You are both assets to SF

Brits have been described as polite, pernickety and annoyingly apologetic, we apologise for everything! Goodness knows why! However, most of us have a good chuckle at ourselves!
British people are famous all over the world for having a stiff upper lip and a ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ mantra. Although this is not absolutely true these days, I have to say no where in the world are there better queuers than in Britain!

Aye, I've been told I say "Sorry!" too much. "Stiff upper lip and carry on" defo that's me. However, one wee difference, I'm a hugger lol!

*Deep breathe… annnnd relax…* :) Sorry, I’ve got to smile; I don’t know what else to do.

I’m sure most people are aware of the British National Anthem. That perhaps in theory is supposed to unite the nations on the union.

I think Scotland has an official National Anthem, or is it an unofficial anthem, "Flower of Scotland."?

I believe Wales has its own national anthem, which is called "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau". Yeah I know, I don’t know what it means either, and my ancestors on one side of the family are Welsh. If I could just plagiarise something for a moment, it seems Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau means, "Land of My Fathers." Which seem apt, but I had no idea.

So what about England? There is some here who would like one of these to become England’s official national anthem. They already are seen as unofficial anthems by some:

It has been reported that King George V himself said that he preferred Jerusalem over the British national anthem God Save the King after hearing an orchestral version.

I have visited many countries in the British Commonwealth and a popular question is: What is the National Trust?

Well..The National Trust is an independent charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Founded in 1895, it preserves and protects places of historic interest or natural beauty. It now owns over 500 heritage sites including castles, gardens, parks and houses.
Although some National Trust properties can be visited for free, most of them require an entrance fee. It usually is between £5 and £25.
The National Trust also offer annual memberships that will give you free access to the 500 sites across the UK.

Being a member means that you will get free entry to all these sites.
We are members of the Trust and so we enjoy free entry to all sites and are also invited to events which are both interesting and fun.

Bless all those wonderful volunteers 🌹🌹🌹

Hill figures:

I think there are about 15 or more Hill figures around the UK? Some much older than others. One that is believed to be over 3000 years old. They are cuttings and removal of the soil to reveal the white chalk underneath. This one below being the 3000 year old Uffington White Horse, protected by the National Trust.

There is one called Cerne Abbas Giant. Find a picture of it and post it, if you dare. I think at one time the Victorians wanted it covered – not sure? I can’t help thinking the Cerne Abbas Giant was created by men as opposed to women. Not entirely sure if some of the dimensions of the Cerne Abbas Giant are correct? As the giant seems to have big hands.

Anyway, here’s the photo of the 3000 year old Uffington White Horse. 360ft in length.

Those Hill figures are amazing. I have seen several.
The Cerne Abbas figure is so interesting and the Village itself is absolutely delightful.

Well worth a visit if you haven’t been there already Magna Carter!
