Things I couldn't get at the market today

I'm having trouble getting decent sized baking potatoes.. Our major supermarket Tesco is selling bags of ''baking potatoes'' with potatoes which are no bigger than the palm of your hand and they are mostly forked..., even the loose ones are smaller than normal.
While I appreciate WinCo for its low prices, I appreciate Kroger (which is also Fred Meyer) for their Baker potatoes that are just about twice the size of what WinCo sells for.

So I do understand your frustration.

The local Aldi has great baking potatoes. 10 lbs for $5.19.

It depends on the store and location. A local supermarket is having trouble keeping milk in stock especially the half gallons. Although this week I think not even a 1/2 dozen gallons left. Their egg supply shaky as well.

I'm having trouble with basic vitamins especially since price is important.

I know what you mean. The Rexall calcium gels I use to get at Dollar General haven't been available there since the pandemic. They don't seem to put any effort in stocking dietary supplements. I could get calcium hard pills at Walgreens or CVS, but they are like $16 for a bottle.

Deb, why not take the batteries to the register, say that you couldn't find the price, and ask how much they are? If they're too much you can always decline the purchase. People do this all the time; the cashier won't take it personally.

We were able to get what we wanted from one store this morning. Shelves were well-stocked, though I noticed there are still no disinfectant wipes and there didn't happen to be any TP. (I wasn't shopping for either product, just checking out of habit.)

Hitting Aldi this afternoon and hope to do equally well there.
No TP ???? I guess I didn't realize how critical these shortages have become.o_O

Zero problems here with shortages. Competition between Smith's/Kroger Albertsons/Vons the 3 Spanish super markets seems to be working to customers advantage. Albertsons/Vons being super competitive offer once a month on different weeks 10% discount for seniors & another 10% for military service. All I have to do is look for weekly sales for the stuff we could use.
