What makes no sense... is when someone buys a Giant Bucket of KFC... a big thick crust Pizza with every food known to man as topping.. .. a tub of Ice-cream with nuts and chocolate topping.... then asks for a Diet Coke...

Do they think that by having the diet coke they will negate the calories in all the garbage they've just eaten? ...:oops::oops:

I needed to google "Marmite" as I was unfamiliar....discovered that to be a British favorite. Must be an 'acquired taste' as the description I found would suggest:
Marmite has a very distinctive flavor. The taste is so unique as to defy description, but think of a yeasty, salty, soy sauce-esque flavor with the consistency of old engine oil

The thumbs up/down sign. Supposedly, thumbs up is a good thing. But to the Romans, if you were on the ground in the arena, begging for your life, you had two verdicts. Thumbs down meant to stay on earth (live). Thumbs up meant to go with the gods in heaven (die). So, why after thousands of years do we continue to screw this simple thing up?

I'll never forget: years ago while waiting for my little Big Mac at McDonalds, I noticed two really large women picking up their order at the counter, which was in a couple paper bags of the size that supermarkets used to provide for groceries. To wash all that down, they had super-size Diet Cokes. 😲
 
People that order a lot of food at a restaurant or takeout, have a few bites and leave or toss the rest. I still get steamed thinking about when I ate at 99 a few years ago. On my way out, I passed a table at which no one was sitting at and it had two plates on which were burgers and fries. The burgers looked untouched and only a few fries looked like they had been eaten. I think the people left since there was a $5 bill on the table I assume was a tip.

Thinking any poltiician whatsoever is on the side of the people in any country in the world but likewise thinking anarchy could actually work. Government is a necessary evil born out of anarchy in the first place.

In short, humans. The entire reason anarchy can't work. Unfortunately.

It has to be paid for, and that comes from taxes. More population, more taxes, more money to spend on it (which is a great theory, but in reality it's used as a political football). From the prices charged for the medications, to malpractice.

I agree with all of that, from what I understand of the UK, the NHS has trouble getting adequate funding and more and more Brits are turning to private health insurance. Guess how that's going to go? *sigh*

So I'll state it again: unless healthcare costs are capped and insurance companies reigned in, healthcare won't be affordable at all, whether for national or private health care.

I don't know that much about it, but I think that was the idea behind HMO's and PPO's, but they do have their drawbacks. Most things have to be in network unless a referral is done. As to how well they work, I suppose that depends on who you talk to.

Fortunately we do have the USA as an example as to what not to do with regard Medical Insurance.....not being facetious , but real..

Not to mention, many US states have a much higher population than most countries in Europe. While universal health care is dandy in Norway or England or Finland, all of which have fewer people than 1 large US state like Texas or California.

A better idea for healthcare in the US is for the government to set prices for procedures and medications and to prohibit sending medical debt to collections.

Canada has a form of universal health care, doesn't it? And it's a large country like the U.S.

Also, seems to me that all or most of the health insurance companies here in the U.S. are just as gutted by greed, criminal fraud and apathy as are Medicare, Tricare of the V.A.

And shall we talk about that good ol' American business, profit-loving company Purdue Pharma?

Yeah, it violates copyright laws.

People who write, perform, and/or produce music professionally deserve to be paid for their time, effort, skill and talent. They do it to earn a living.

That people can earn an exceptional income by licking microphones, making unidentifiable animal sounds, or humping air to a beat on Tik-Tok while incredible musical prodigies under age 12 can't - that defies logic for me.

Hi Mur - Yeah, I still don't get the copyright issue in play here though. If you already have downloaded song files (however you got them), and they are stored on your computer hard drive or on a memory stick, why should you not be able to put those same files on a boombox hard drive or an integrated hard drive in your vehicle. I would understand that you couldn't record directly to it, but if you can do it with two devices without any violation, why not just one. Maybe I'm missing something.
 
I bought a ruggedized USB flash drive (good at low temperatures). 64 GB and I have ripped nearly every CD I own to it and still haven't filled it up. I leave it plugged into the port in the center console/armrest.

My car will accept voice commands to search by genre, composer, artist, album, or track title... so I rarely have to navigate by touch screen. I can even ask questions like "Who is this?" or "What album am I listening to?" Or say "List artist XXX" to display the albums on the screen.

My car is over 5 years old. Imagine what newer models might do?
