Things that drop out of the sky

You know... Things like dead leaves, hail stones and aeroplane propellers.

The last of these fell down to earth recently not very far from my street. It came loose from a twin engine plane and fortunately dropped into a patch of bushland, causing no harm to any one. The pilot landed the plane safely.

It took a couple of days to locate the missing propeller but it has now been retrieved for examination.

Skylab ..

One night back in the late 70's we drove up to some foothills just out of town and watched Skylab pass by. That was just before it came crashing back to earth. It was something to see, and I remember how it looked really low when it came flying by..

In this order........Cry, turn on the emergency blinkers, cry some more while calling my husband and continue crying until help arrives or my car starts.

Sorry folks, this post doesn't go here and unable to delete.

The following event happened about 5 years ago. I always parked my vehicle in the lot reserved for airline employees at the airport. On this particular day and after completing my paperwork for the airline, I took the airline's employee shuttle to pick up my GMC Envoy. It was cold out and had been raining off and on this particular day. When I sat in my Envoy, I noticed that I had water in the built-in cup-holders in front of the dash and the top of the dash was also very wet. I was puzzled how this may have happened, so I got back out of my vehicle and looked at the roof. There I saw a huge dent where the roof meets the windshield.

When I got home, I called my insurance company and the next day an adjuster arrived. He asked me how I got a very deep dent in the roof of the vehicle. I told him that the only thing that I could imagine that may have happened was that a plane landing may have had a pretty good size piece of ice fall of of it. This was very weird. Thankfully, the insurance considered it a comprehensive claim and did not charge me with having an accident because the car was parked.

Lucky it wasn't a body

Several years ago, I read about someone's house getting hit by a large chunk of frozen..uh...excrement from a plane. Apparently one of the lav holding tanks must have been leaking and formed a big chunk of blue ice (with unlovely additives), which fell off as the plane came in for a landing.

My one experience was when in was looking at trees in the garden department at the home store. Some bird flew over and dropped a gift in my very coiffed hair. That was back when I had helmet-hair (you know, tons of hair spray). Some very nice lady tried to clean it out. I decided to wear a hat the next time.
