Things That I Miss Doing

That road bike is a nice compromise. I always got a little annoyed at them being called girls bikes anyway, like they were for sissies. The "boys" bikes were obviously stronger, and I never really believed a girl couldn't hoist a leg over that bar as well as a boy. :) Maybe shorter legs?

I miss being able to pick up the phone and call Mom to chat. Nothing important, just everyday things, sometimes silly, and she always had a bit of hometown gossip. :)

I miss my Dad and the times we would play Bluegrass together along with his Brother, my Uncle. The last song we played together was "Blue Moon of Kentucky." My Dad played the banjo, my Uncle played the guitar and I played the fiddle. We were quite a trio. I miss my Mom just as much and the smells of her kitchen. She was always cooking or baking.

I miss walking my son to school, making up stories about Sebastien the Québécois spider, who always wore a baret and twirled his moustache, and Charlotte the elephant, who packed up her trunk and went looking for friends. I also miss my huge vegetable garden, fruit trees, and all the wonderful food they provided, sigh....
