Things that make you go...

Exiting the shopping centre yesterday I walked to my car, pushing the button thingy on the key thingy. Car would not respond. $@^&%$#!@
Button thingy was flat. Damn and Balderdash.
What to do now? Walked around the car, checking the doors, all locked.
Standing next to the car I see a lady making a beeline towards me.
She stood at a distance and asked me what I was doing
"I can not unlock my car."
"This is my car"
I looked at the number plate, it was not my car🤦‍♂️
Eventually found my car on another level of the car park.

I've never done that, but I live in a hi-rise building where all the hallways and doors look identical. I've gotten off the elevator at the wrong floor, walked down to "my" apartment, and couldn't figure out why the key didn't fit in the lock. Finally, it dawned on me to look at the apartment number. Fortunately, no one was home, at least, no one came to the door.

Glad you found your car, a friend and I were shopping once and when we went in the store it was light and when we came out it was dark. We looked for her car across the lighted parking lot and could not find it, we thought it had been stolen and then it hit me the lighting in the parking lot had changed the color of her car from our vantage point and we were over looking her car.

Even better, some years ago I had a green Chevy Caprice with a black vinyl roof, as did one of my co workers. I got off work one evening and my car was not where I always parked it. Seems my co-worker and I also had matching KEYS.
What happened after that? I'm curious 🤔

That's cool 😎. I would have been worried but then when I think of my junker car I sometimes wish someone would steal it...lol
No you don't, it would be more expensive to replace it. Insurance never covers the cost of replacement. I worry because I have a 15 year old car but only has 40K miles. If someone steals or hits me it would cost me a lot to replace it. Most insurance would not pay me enough just because it is fifteen years old.

I have done routine maintenance to keep it in good order. I don't wait until something goes wrong. I have everything done on the regular including tire rotations, belt changing, filter changes. Little things that can save you a lot of money and prevent problems.

After this car dies I won't be able to afford another so I will be taking buses, cabs, Uber maybe. It's so rusty underneath and I can't even afford to keep up the maintenance and that's why I say I might be better off if someone steals it.

Plus my insurance doesn't cover theft only liability. It's a no win car. I need repairs right now in order to get my echeck in October.

Maybe for now it's better than nothing.

It is better than nothing. Most people would think I am nuts to have such an old car. I have money, I can replace it but I just see that as silly. Why spend money when it works fine, I can get where I want. I have no one to impress, as long as it keep going, has AC, I am fine.

I am sorry that you have to struggle so much but it is better to have than nothing!! It says a great deal about you as a person, with your struggles you are still are a giving, caring person to all.

Thank you 😊

Let's see. I drive a white Honda Accord along with 40% of the other drivers parked at the shopping mall. I may have walked up to the wrong car from time to time.

That's why God made car alarms. So my car could call me if I ask it to.

After a couple times, you learn to take a moment before going into the mall to look back and make a mental note of anything in the vicinity that would make it easy to find the car when you come back out. Heck, you could even take a picture with your phone.

There's an App for your phone that will tell you precisely where you parked your car. I don't have that app, but like you I always after losing my car many years ago in a multi story car park.... now take exact notice of precisely where my car is parked.

Some big retail. car parks have A-Z lanes clearly marked with an Initial..some have nothing at all.. so I see that my car is in the same lane opposite the ''S'' on the supermarkets''billboard for example..

I'm averse to Apps on my phone because they never stop bugging me with reminders to update or reminders that they have been inactive and that I should review all my apps and turn off to save memory, etc.

I just got a new phone and I had to go through the apps and uninstall about 20 or more that I know I'll never use.

The rust underneath your car reminds me of Cleveland! We were always having that issue because of the snow/salt. I always thought that was normal growing up, until I traveled to Florida and noticed none of the cars there had rust, lol.

That's right. The car I have is a rust bucket galore! The car I had before was from Florida and no rust when I first got it. I loved that car!

These days one can be shot doing that.
