i really like the reasoning of saying happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. It definitely IS more respectful . We don’t know what everyone’s religion is or if they even have one.
I like Happy Holidays because its a more inclusive greeting of best wishes for the entire holiday season. I wish people Happy Holidays because my intent is to spread joy to them, not to me. Wishing Merry Christmas to strangers whose beliefs are unknown strikes me as a presumptuous arrogance that serves the addresser and diminishes the addressee.I like Happy Holidays because its a more inclusive greeting of best wishes for the entire holiday season.
