Things you used to always have

Why is it called a glove box, anyway? o_O:unsure::oops::rolleyes:

I note that very few of us, ever had any, in there.
☺️
Where I grew up it was more commonly referred to as the "jockey box". I have no idea why.

When I owned my MGs, I kept leather driving gloves in the glove box, cutouts over the knuckles and all.....what a poser I was🙄gloves.jpg

I remember always having a tire gauge in there. I carried the manual that came with it in there too and probably the insurance card too. The registration I carried in my purse in my wallet.

My parents called it the glove compartment.

I don't have a car now so don't know anything different I'd be carrying in it. Maybe a phone charger.

Better grip on the steering wheel at speeds over 180 mph.
And since MG's always overheated, the gloves protect your hands while you're putting out the fire. 😂

I always used to carry an old pair of prescription eyeglasses in the glovebox in case I popped a lens or in some way damaged the pair of glasses that I was wearing. I also carried maps, seldom used, and a pair of gloves, rarely used…

Breath mints
A bottle of water
Kleenex
Wet wipes
Elastics
A lighter
A small flashlight
Tire pressure gage
Dog treats
Extra leash
Bug spray
Extra money including ( change )
Hair clip or scrunchie
Glasses cloth

ah yes , I;d forgotten those. I too keep a pair of distance specs in there, in case I find myself out later than I expected and driving home in the dark...

Times have changed quite abit, now I carry 'Old People' stuff in the glove
compartment.

-pack of #13 hearing aid batteries
-backup pair of glasses
-spare Nitroglycerin tablets, just incase
-android, iphone and C charging cables.
-stocking cap, can never trust the weather.
-found a K-cup pod in there, guess I didn't want to be without coffee!

I used to carry a battery-powered flashlight in my glovebox, but the batteries were always dead when I needed to use the light. So now, I have a small wind-up one. Give it a few cranks and I have enough light to read something in the dark. It's not ever going on a search-and-rescue mission, but it serves the purpose and it's always usable.
get and LED one... they last forever. I've had my little torch for about 6 years now, and I use it often in the house...under the stairs etc..it's never ran out of battery, and it's super bright, but only the size of your palm.. ... https://www.amazon.com/Flashlight-P...14?keywords=led+torch&qid=1688237622&sr=8-114

you can pick one up everywhere... including supermarkets.. just a few $$

I used to have my ID card from work handy at all times. Now I look once a year at it most likely.
The important thing now is around 10:30 ish, I walk out to get the mail and test the day. Is it good,
ok, crap or disgusting today. That sends a wake-up brunch coming signal for me.

Today was a Scrambled Eggs, bacon brunch.
I used to do that all the time, now I usually.
prefer a Bacon Toast BLT for brunch.

Quote; {Years ago,I always carried an assortment of buss fuses.}
.............. {Newer cars don't seem to have the problem of blowing fuses so I no longer carry any.}

I still keep them and a tester just in case. Just the newer fuses though It takes a bit of study to understand the locations of the Hell on Wheels designs.

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk I have a work station...
If they arrested the Energizer Bunny, would they charge it with battery?
I believe five out of four people have trouble with fractions.

I don't have a solution, but I admire your problem.
If a tin whistle is made out of tin (and it is), then what, exactly, is fog horn made out of?
Okay, who stopped the payment on my reality check?

I believe the only time the world beats a path to my door is when I'm in the bathroom.
What hair color do they put on the driver's licenses of bald men?
If a Leaf blower can clean out a floor fan, what'll clean out the leaf blower.

If you think of your Auto as "Hell On Wheels," What's your Truck?

Sometimes I wish I had a Handicap parking mirror sign but
the parking places are usually y full of either Jeeps or Toyota
hybrids with hitched mounted power chairs. I can just suffer.
The most I need and keep on keeping on.

Not much in mine.....Owner`s Manual, wet wipes (dried out no doubt),that`s about it.

But I can tell you what it DOESN`T have. A light. Our last two cars (2018 and 2022 models) do not have them. When did they stop putting lights in glove boxes???
