That's exactly what I was thinking of. Not primitive, really, but non-electrical, for sure.

I grew up on a Calif dairy farm, and all our neighbors were farmers (of meat and meat by-products). None of them were professional carpenters but built their own barns, outbuildings, feeders, and so on with hand tools, surprisingly little hardware, and generations of know-how. They would all be well over 100yrs old today and most of their old builds are still standing. Some of the furniture they built is still there, now I think about it.

Anyway, yes it was fun stuff; I'm glad it caught your interest. (y)
